This guy on Reddit has one. The only changes aside from physical/special split are that you can use the running shoes inside, TMs are infinite-use like in Gen V/VI, and a few bugfixes for stability (you can't cheat with the faulty PRNG anymore.)

I've never really understood the battle with Gary/Blue here. He has five Pokemon, and he mentions that he just caught Cubone. Why does he not use it in this battle? Unless you have a full party, freshly caught Pokemon go in your lineup, and there are no PCs in that tower.

In the originals, Blue is a lot less humorous about this scene. This ties in with the fan theory that you kill his Raticate in the battle aboard the St. Anne. My guess is that he kept the dead Raticate in his party for the trip to Pokemon Tower, caught the Cubone(sending it to the PC box), then buried Raticate, freeing up the 6th slot just in time to walk into you.

There's also the possibility that he caught the Cubone when it only had like 3 HP left and didn't think it was worth sending out when it could be knocked out easily. Or killed easily, if you subscribe to the theory that you actually murdered a pokemon in a kid's game. :v

Why would he use Pokemon that he just caught? He learned that lesson in cerulean city where he had a fresh caught abra. I'm more surprised about him not catching snorlax honestly
