I was going to ask how a Drowzee poisoned Sunny, then I realized what gym it was. Now I'm wondering why there was a Drowzee there. The only Poison-type moves it can learn are Poison Gas and Toxic(the latter via TM only). Same with Hypno, too.

The sleep aspect, most likely. It's nominally a Poison gym, but aside from that it's also a test of how well the player deals with status effects. Koga maintains his focus on status effects when he gets promoted to the Elite 4 in Gen II/IV.

Yeah, it's known for exploding. You'd be surprised how explosively flammable the decay products of sewage is.

I just learned two things. One, Bulbapedia now has ads in the middle of a page(going down). Annoying, but not too bad.

Two, Koffing can learn Will-O-Wisp by breeding in Gen III(and TM in Gen IV and up), though you don't have access to any possible breeding partners {until you complete roughly 95% of the main game}. Even so, you can basically breed Koffing with a white phosphorus attack. (made relevant by my recent playthrough of Spec Ops: The Line)
