I'd prefer if you wouldn't. Lots of more space for creativity and originality when people aren't, consciously or subconsciously, thinking they have to stick to some real-world culture.

I didn't really put too much thought into it before now, but realistically, our countries are what amounts to spear chucking natives 3rd world countries compared to the Cultured lands.

Admit it, tho, it's stroke of GM brilliance-since we start as mecha-barbarians, there's a lot of room for our tech to be improved technologically as the game progresses, when otherwise it wouldn't make much sense but for 'aliens did it'.

In the mech game I'd planned, it was kinda hard sci-fi. I justified mechas, as opposed to tanks, as mechas being literally bought from an alien species much more advanced in technology than humans - and they only build bipedal war machines, for religious reasons. Only the aliens knew how to make the super-strong materials used in the walkers, and if they took them apart to reuse the metals, the aliens got upset and wouldn't sell them any more.

Name: Karsten Jund
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Appearance: Karsten stands at 5'8'' with a rather thin and somewhat bony build; nonetheless, he seems to have quite a bit of wiry energy and a very nice amount of precision. He's in his late 20s, with tanned skin that possesses a few scars dotted around it. His hair is a dark brown, cut short, and left to just stick up, and his eyes are a very similar color of dark brown. His left eye seems to be squinted all the time, a remnant from staring through a scope.

He wears dark blues, dark greens and blacks, usually.

Background: Originally from Karliova, Karsten was in fact one of the (Sarapul) feared Spiders, a sniper on a small force typically tasked with assassinating Sarapulian officials or officers or whoever happened to be in the area. He served for a couple of years (21 to 24 years old) in this group of Spiders, becoming somewhat notable among the Spiders, until a single missed shot ruined everything for him. A very important Sarapulian military man was in the area, and as such an urgent task was given to the group of Spiders: kill him. After an arduous and bloody fight to get to the man, he had begun to make his way out of the area. One last chance remained to end him: a sniper shot. Karsten lined up the shot... pulled the trigger... and missed. The Sarapulian got away.

After that, Karsten was basically shamed out of his unit, and from there the entirety of the Spiders. Hurt and lost, Karsten ended up leaving Karliova totally soon afterwards... and ended up in the country of Terralba. He would soon end up in military operations again, but not as an infantry sniper; instead, Karsten discovered something of a talent for mech piloting, and when the call went through Terralba for mech pilots to fight the Sarapulian Powers, Karsten jumped at the call.
