There isn't much reason for the Hero to decide faster, since they are only allowed to kill one player every 24 hours.

Votes reset when the Hero kills someone in order to prevent unexpected majorities from happening.

The timer is there to make sure the Hero can't just kill someone the moment a vote is about to pass, or something like that.

If votes were public, you couldn't vote for the Lover or the Best Friend without being outed as a Clone, unless you argued that they were a clone or something.

Then again, giving the Clones a hidden kill might overpower them a bit.

With the introduction of a public vote, this game is extremely similar to mafia. I think a hidden vote would be better.

Perhaps no votes for clones? It does seem a bit... odd, if the Hero is trying to kill all the clones, if they're all voting and someone isn't, they could come out with being the BF or lover.

It's still somewhat different from mafia since in this game, the majority of players are trying to represent a minority, whereas mafia is a minority of players trying to represent a majority. Not sure how different they really are though.

The Lover/Best Friend do get a vote. The Hero does not.

We could go with a hidden vote instead, though I don't think it would be that different. Non-player voting seems... insane o_o

The clone voting system seems like the most effective way to deal with the OPness of Best Friend. Without it, the BF has very little reason to not claim.

Also, the voting would most likely play out as "who is most likely to be a clone" rather than "who is most likely to be the lover."
