"My Da taught me a little limerick.

'Purple or tan, get the cooking pan-violet or black, throw it back'!

Those violet colored ones are definitely hostile."
She says, pointing them out.

Spoiler: Shrooms of Death (click to show/hide)

"Let's deal with them afar, hmm? Everyone get out your bows! Or magical alternatives, thereof-try not to use fire, though, the last thing we want is to send a smoke signal to everyone in the cave. They're probably gonna uproot themselves and attack us. And they can reach pretty far with those tendrils. Bloody Magic Fungus..."

Action: Move the party back and Acid splash on the closest one! Melt those buggers from a distance!

Arwen looks at Joanna incredulously.

"That was by no stretch of the imagination a limerick. It was at best a memory rhyme." He holds up his hand and casts a spell, three silver arrows of light each embedding themselves into one of the mushrooms!

"Also I can do that now."

MAGIC MISSILE! The closest three as targets, please.

(Mushrooms' Dexterity Saves: -2 and 9 vs 14, Failure! 3 and 1 damage!)
Johanna's acid lands on the two closest fungi, and their flesh sizzles under the acid.

(Adrik's Spell Attack: 1+7, CRITICAL FAILU- wait, what?! That's a success?! Seriously?! I'm only not rolling for fumble because it's a cantrip! 7 damage!)
Cave air isn't the freshest, and in the recent scuffle with the cultists, some dust got kicked up, and has been tickling Adrik's nose. It finally drove him over the edge as he tried to recite the incantation for Ray of Frost. He sneezed out the final words, firing blindly. Somehow, against all odds, the spell hits successfully, and ice spreads across the nearest fungi's surface.

(Mirella's Ranged Attack: 9+2, Success! 4 damage!)
Mirella's carefully aimed sling shot finds a sweet spot in the closest fungi, and bursts through it, in one side and out the other.

(Arwen's Magic Missile damage: 3+1, 2+1, 3+1, 11 damage!)
A little tug here, and a little push there, a few murmurs to set the strings twanging just the right way, and the three bolts fly off, thudding into their targets.
Unbeknownst to Arwen, a small, silvery-blue flame erupts on his shoulder, and dies the moment the bolts slam into the fungi. One crumples over the onslaught, and the other two bolts slam into the second violet fungus in line.

It is Mirella's turn.

((What just happened???????))
"'scuse me."
Ray of Frost again.

Also, did Adrik see the wild magic wild magicking?  (or, I assume that it was.)

Silently, Mirella reloaded her sling and let another pebble fly.

Sling it again

Arwen pauses a moment.

"... I thought you said they'd be attacking?"

Arwen nods. "A Firebolt and a clap of thunder, both of which would be ill-advised here. I'll save my magic for when it's time."

(Mirella's Ranged Attack: 20+2, CRITICAL SUCCESS! 2+2 damage!)
Mirella accidentally loads two pebbles into the sling, something that would normally be a sure sign of failure, as neither pebble would fly straight, but this time, they both fly true, 'braining' their target.

(Mushrooms' Dexterity Saves: 12 and 11 vs 14, Failure! 4 and 1 damage!)
Johanna, almost starting to doubt her own diagnoses of the nature of these mushrooms, hits the fungi dead on, and they writhe in as much pain as a fungi can.

(Adrik's Arcana Check: 15+3)
The strange blue-silver fire that just afflicted Arwen for half a moment is a phenomena called Spellfire, the raw energy of the Weave. This could be indicative of one of three things:
1. Some effects of the Spellplague persist to this day. When a person or creature gets too close to the Plaguewrought Lands, or is exposed to a relic from the Spellplague, they may acquire a Spellscar, a mark of the taint of the Spellplague. These spellscarred individuals develop unique abilities, but not without a price.
2. Mystra gives the ability to wield Silver Fire to her Chosen and certain other favored servants. Chosen can wield Silver Fire to cast spells by silent force of will alone, or blast away their enemies in a giant cone of magical fire.
3. The wielding of True Spellfire is by far the most powerful of these rare and precious talents. It is a random gift bestowed upon only a handful of women and men in a generation. These persons can do amazing things, dependent upon their skill, talent, and the amount of magical energy they have within them at the time.

It is Arwen's turn.

Arwen just shrugs and chucks a handaxe at one of them. They're not worth his spells at the moment... Was he imagining it, or was Ardik eyeing him? Well, he'd address it later.

HURL THE THING!

(Arwen's Ranged Attack: 17+7, Success! 5+5 damage!
The blade of the axe buries itself deep into the flesh of the mushroom, bringing the creature? plant? fungus? thing to a stop.

(Adrik's Spell Attack: 17+7, Success! 3 damage!)
Adrik's beam of ice rakes the flesh of the fungi, freezing its movement appendages useless.

The furthest fungi inches closer. At this rate, it'll take a half minute to get to the group.

FASTFORWARD!
The fungi lie burnt, frozen and beaten, but dead in the fungi garden.
+50 XP for everyone!

Arwen recovers his axe and looks towards the stairs, nodding.

"Seems that's our way forward. Wanna take a minute to rest, or keep pushing on? I'm a fan of moving onwards myself. Someone might be wondering why those two haven't checked in..."
