Ten more kobolds swarm out of the shadows, shooting slings at him. A plucky one dashes forward, trying to find a chink in his armor...

Arwen meets a heavy barrage of rocks shot from slings to his face, and quickly raises his shield to deflect the rest of them. After a moment, the pitter-patter of rocks ceases, and he lowers his shield to engage in melee combat. That is when one last kobold launches a rock with incredible force for a kobold. It hits Arwen's armor, and the metal diffuses the impact across his entire chest. Normally, it would simply bounce off, leaving little mark of its passing. But this pebble was different. Maybe the kobold that launched it whispered a quiet prayer to the foul god he worships before he let it fly. Maybe it was magical. Maybe the kobold was supernaturally strong. Maybe they were just lucky. It's impossible to say.
What can be said is that the impact is massive, and dents Arwen's armor heavily. He can hear the crack of some ribs, and the wind is knocked out of him.
