Johanna grumbled, but consented, leaning against the wall.

"Other folks...need it...more than me..."

Mirella shook her head as she channeled positive energy into Johanna's legs, the wounds cleaning themselves and knitting back together before their eyes.  "Perhaps, but I have my healer's kit as well.  Should we encounter any more injured, I can treat them in the old-fashioned way.  With all of us in one piece, we shall be able to move faster, and perhaps save more lives."

Johanna grunted a quiet thank you to Mirella. Her color improved, no matter the effectiveness of the healing.

"Aye, you're the healer...mean to say, I usually stand out of the way of a fight. I can avoid trouble easier than yer can heal it...shouldn't have let those rats get the jump on me..." She chides herself.

Mirella smiled gently.  "I will not deny that I would also prefer that you leave the front-line fighting to Arwen and myself, but battles tend to be capricious things.  Leaving aside the rats, which I don't believe any of us expected, distance alone will not help against archers or other mages, and I would rather not see any fall so long as I still have strength or spells."  As the spell finished, she nodded.  "That should keep well."

Arwen turns to Johanna, giving her a stern look. "What use are you to anyone dead? Know your limits, and don't be afraid to ask for help. Those were the first things that were drilled into me during my time as a guard. You'd do well to remember them. I'm built like a brick wall, let me get hit like one. The rest of you are a fair bit more... squishy than myself, so try to not get hit quite as much. I'm going to join Pea and scout ahead. I'll holler if we need help."

Back up Sweetpea's stealth with PURE MUSCLE if needed, scout ahead either way.

Johanna nodded, absorbing his advice.

After a moment, she began an incantation to coat herself in magic armor-it manifested as a bright barrier of red-tinted energy over her body, before fading into tangible invisibility. She was breathing hard afterwards, having taxed her small reserves of arcane power.

Action: Prepare to assist as needed

Also, cast Mage Armor on myself (Ac now 14)

Hearing his footsteps behind her, the elf waif turned.
"What are you doing, you big lunk? All those muscles make you noisy. Maybe you could strangle an ox, but you make as much noise as one, yeah?

If I meet trouble, I'll run right back. Don't worry about me."

Sweetpea takes a quick peek, and quickly ducks back in as she counts six kobolds and two dwarves searching the stream for something, probably more villagers. She relays this information back quietly to the group.
They haven't noticed you, so if you attack now, you will get a surprise round.

Map
The green |s are reeds, while the 8s are bushes. They can provide cover from vision, if someone attempts to hide, but do not hinder movement. The banks are elevated above the mostly dry stream bed, so it takes an extra five feet of move to climb up them. The water is shallow, and can be moved through without hinderance.

"I'm thinking I aim for the dwarf across the stream while you konk the other with your magic, Johanna. Rest of you, give 'em kobolds a right thumping."

"Aye, I think we should concentrate one at a time. You make your move and I'll make my mine." She suggests.

Action: Johanna moves after everyone else has acted.

Then, if Dwarf2 is still alive, move to I-7 and cast a firebolt at him (+5tohit, 1d10 fire)

If he's dead, move to I-8, and cast three magic missiles on Dwarf1 (Autohit, 3d4+3)

Arwen will move to J4 and deal with Kobold 3! Mostly with his sword.

Mirella charges out first, (8+5, Success!) swinging her staff to knock the legs out from underneath a kobold, (1+3 damage) and following up with a hard blow to the chest. The little reptilian creature still has some fight left in them, though.
Arwen is a close second, flanking left instead of right, screaming out a battlecry (8+6, Success!) as he beats a kobold into a bloody pulp.
Sweetpea takes a carefully aimed shot at the dwarf who was searching some reeds (20! Critical!) (5+4+6+4) taking him down before he even knew there was anything to worry about.
With one Dwarf down, Johanna unleashes magical barrage upon the other, (2+2+4+3) knocking her senseless. With the painful snaps that were heard, there is no question that they are not getting back up.

Spoiler: Initiative (click to show/hide)
It is Sweetpea's turn.

The kobolds are still caught off guard, so our heroes continue their assault, but Johanna is standing still, caught in the moment. Was it something to do with the fact that she might have just killed one of her own kind? Was it her basking in her own power? Was it just an old memory of days gone by? Did she just need to sneeze really badly?

Johanna had never killed anyone before-monsters, yes-but never another Dwarf...it was not so easy when it was your own kind. It was harder when you saw the light go out from eyes very much like your own. She had been even younger than Johanna-hardly a girl, really...what had led her to serve these evil forces? What lies had they told her? Had she been naive and manipulated into service, or cunning and filled with hatred of people like her?

The Wizard was frozen for a vital moment, in grief and indecision.

OOC: Also, remember to deduct my last spell and add mage armor to my effects, thanks you. :P
