(Investigation: 2+5)
The only things Johanna's investigation turns up are the crummy weapons and armor of the cultists.

Arwen also takes a look, especially in the tents.

"I'm worried if we leave him alone something stronger and smarter than the cultists will make a meal out of him. Like a bear."

LOOTING TIME.

Mirella helps the others out.  She doesn't speak immediately, waiting on the rescued prisoner's response to the others.

(Investigation, with Advantage from Mirella's help: 4, 18+2)
You find a stone with opaque bands of red and white and a total of six gold in mixed coinage.

"No sheaths of maps or detailed written orders, what a shame...

Anyway, I suppose we're ready to move on, but what about you, Elf? You should be safe enough getting back to town on your own...you seem to be handy with that bow, and the army has no doubt chased away anything else that could harm you."

"Huh. I suppose I would be alright by myself, but your appearance and rescuing me leads me to ask you where you are going. So where are you going and what do you intend to do? Because I believe I owe you people a favor."

"Well, this cult did something to a village we happened upon. We're gonna go reclaim what was taken." His hand strays to his chest, where a scar from his battle with their leader had formed. "And.... I've got a more personal reason. But mostly good reasons."

Arwen pockets the stone, and hands all the gold to Mirella.

"The mayor charged us with investigating this Dragon cult who attacked your village. We're to gather us much information...and do as much damage...as we can. As you can see, their numbers are great and we are but a handful. We're going to do as much as we can, but I'm not one for favoring our odds. Here we were able to trick them and set them on each other, if they had a strong leader among them...maybe not as effective."

Mirella smiled slightly, having little to add to the other two.  "That's essentially the story.  Do you have a name?  I am Mirella, this is Arwen, and this is Johanna," she says, motioning to each as she introduces the party.

The Elf deciding to remain anonymous for the time being, the newly swelled ranks of the group make haste along the trail of the raiders.
After another hour of travel, you come to a place where the trail winds through a gap between two rocky outcrops, each maybe 20 feet tall.
You call a halt for a break in the shade of the rocks, a nagging feeling in your gut.

Arwen tries to identify the cause of this feeling. He's not a big fan of it, so he wants it gone as soon as he can make it leave.

(Wisdom check: 15)
If Arwen was to leave a rearguard, this is would be a good place to put it.

Arwen nods, thinking to himself. Good point brain. Let's take this slow.

He looks to his group nodding. "This place would be great to leave a rearguard, to ambush any angry adventures who may be following. Namely us. And assuming that whoever's in charge is not as stupid as their mercs, there's probably a fight in store. Everyone ready?"

((Oh yeah, it messes up everything if Pencil_Arts unnamed and undescribed character didn't nab himself a cultist robe and stuff to blend in with the party, since he didn't post at all, and you were forced to move us on. Can we assume he did that, or must we live with the letdown? :P ))

"We should try to avoid a fight if we can, though I suppose it might not be so easy this time..."
