"Arwen, the next phase of our journey may require subterfuge. I suggest you take a look at the cultists weapons-you may want one, in case we have to infiltrate them-assuming they are distinct enough. I am working on finding you a disguise..."

Arwen nods to Johanna. "That seems like a good idea. I'll see if I can find anything that suits me. I'll brush up on my accent as well..."

Arwen looks through the weapons the Cultists left behind, just in case.

Johanna:
She missed it before, but some of the raiders' robes have been alerted. Some of the robes have a piece of red-brown cloth sewn into the arm, others have a small black stone brooch in the rough shape of a wing, while still others have been patched extensively with dark blue cloth. Not all are altered, though. You may choose which ones you want to take with you.
The raiders' weapons and armor are cheap, but still deadly. You can take any simple weapon or light weapon you desire, and a few martial weapons or medium armors.

Johanna asks some of the villagers where she can find a blacksmith, and they point her in the right direction. The town's smithy looks like a tornado swept through it. Tools are scattered everywhere, the door is broken down, and it seems that the entire stock has been cleared out. The human smith and his apprentice are taking stock of the damage when you approach. He pauses his work to welcome you. "Hail, stranger. Are you the mage who saved the people in the temple?"

Arwen:
The monk looks at you questioningly, and says "This is much to big for me to handle properly. I've never handled anything like it before."

"I am...though, my friends helped me. I wouldn't have survived without them." Johanna said humbly. She pauses a few moments, before reaching into her pocket and taking the small stones she had found earlier.

"These stones. I need to know what they are. Are they valuable? You work with stone and metal. I hoped you would know."

Johanna:
The smith takes the stones from you, and holds them up against the light. After examinining them for a minute, he hands them back.
"I'm smith, ma'am, my work is iron and steel. So gems should be a stranger to me, but I've had the great luck to see some stones pass through my hands. It looks to me like you've got some Lapis Lazuli and Blue Quartz there. Not particularly valuable, as gems go. You might be able to sell them for ten gold each. Maybe one of the merchants who are based out of here will buy it for you."

"I've no desire to haggle, really.

I was hoping they were worth more...I need to commission a single piece of armor from you, and I had hoped to pay with them. As it is, I have little enough gold to offer.

What I speak to you now must be held in the strictest confidence, though you could probably guess-we are pursuing the cult, myself and my friends. We may have need to infiltrate their ranks...myself and the cleric were not well seen, so we could do so most likely if we changed our gear slightly. The young warrior Arwen, whom you saw fight the uh, Lizardman General, however-he will be known. Near their entire army saw him. He will be recognized quite quickly.

I need you to make a helmet or a mask that could hide his face. It would have be a plain design, perhaps even with Draconic embellishment-one that would not stand out among them. You would have to be able to do this very quickly, and without breathing a word of it to anyone-his face must be entirely hidden. I could find a random helmet, but even the colors of his eyes or the way he wears his hair may give him away if we meet the General face to face. If it could serve him in combat, all the better, though that is not truly important. We can not afford to wait.

Do you think you could do this? And, how much will you need in recompense?"

Arwen nods, and looks to the monkling.

"Take what you need child. I am good with my blade and shield." He hefts both, nodding to himself. They were good weapons, and had served him well many times. He would not cast them aside so quickly. The shield had been a gift from his father, which had come from his father, who had been in the town watch for many years. The blade... Was something he had found after raiding a hideout. Good sword. For now, he needed to make this monkling a bit more prepared.

Johanna:
The smith idly swats at a fly as he ponders the problem.
"I would use a great helm. A regular foot-solider would not be out of place with one. Hmm. I think I might have something on hand."
He disappears inside, and after a moment, comes back out with a roughly made helm, with a large, lopsided ocularium.
"This is one of my apprentice's," he says, before turning to the apprentice in question and raising his voice, "many rejects, but it should be serviceable, once I fix it. Come back around in half an hour. The raiders must not have taken it, pardon my gnomish, ma'am, because it was shit," he shouts at his apprentice.
"And if you're going after them, it'll be on me today. Make 'em pay for messing with us, and we'll call it even."

Arwen:
"I'll just stick to my staff, if that's alright," the monkling says.

"Aye, I'll be back soon." Johanna says.

Action: Okay, once I get the helmet, then I'm ready to go...

You set out, dressed in the robes looted off the raiders. Johanna wears one sewn with blue cloth, Mirella chose one with the black stone wing, while Arwen and the young monk opted for a plain robe. The drake, nearly forgotten by the DM, trots alongside Arwen.
The raider's path is easy to follow across the rolling grassland of the Greenfields. A wide swath of grass is trampled down, but it's impossible to determine the raiders' numbers precisely.
You collectively notice that the tracks are deeper on the retreat than they were on the approach march.
After an hour of marching, you notice the small, smokey tendril of a cookfire in the distance. You quietly approach, and find that the cook fire in question has been setup in a low spot between surrounding hills, where tall boulders have rolled into a loose jumble. From below you, you can smell the scent of roasting meat and hear the sounds of human and kobold voices wafting up to your vantage point on the hill.
The rocks actually provide no protection, and it should be pretty easy to sneak up on them, or avoid them entirely.

Arwen nods to his companions. "I propose we sneak up on them. I'll go closer to determine their numbers, with Rex here." He gives the overgrown newt an affectionate patting. "Worst case, we can book it, but I'd like a more accurate read on how many are here. Additionally, the less enemies we have at the end of this road, the better. I don't want to get trapped between groups should we NEED to retreat."

"Yar, too bad we don't have swe...eh, never mind. We need to get a look at them."

Action: Let's scout them out, get their numbers and descriptions. Try not to be seen, stick to the rocks for cover.

"That sounds right.  We can use those rocks above as cover."
