Persuasion: 12+1

The kobold thinks for a moment. "I am Ipmeerk. I help you, not run."
*Secret rolls*
Ipmeerk is looking even shadier than normal. He's probably hiding something.

Arwen glares at the Kobold and places his hand on the hilt of his sword. "It's still a REALLY bad idea to lie to me. And keeping things from me counts as lying. Do we have an understanding?"

Intimidation: 20!

"I'M SORRY! No sword! Kobold will help human!"
*Secret rolls*
They're telling the truth.

Gods ABOVE Arwen loved this sword. No one ever seemed to lie when he brought it out. Except that one guy, Sven. He's dead now. He took his hand off the hilt and nodded. "Thank you Ipmeerk. Where shall we begin?"

"Ipmeerk was going to betray human to dragon lady. Ipmeerk doesn't know any more! Kobold swears to Tiamat and Kurtulmak!"
*Secret rolls*
His panic is genuine and he isn't hiding anything.

"And now that we know that, we can plan a counterattack. How were you going to do it?"

"Ipmeerk was going to lead Tall Ones to the temple; Ipmeerk heard that humans were trapped there and soon, we'd try and open the doors. Then you'd be maybe killed."

"Doors? The doors to the temple?" There were more civilians trapped... Gods DAMMIT. This was most certainly a trap.... but....

The governor has been listening to your interrogation, and is in full support of the decision to go to the assistance of the temple, and so you rush to their aid.
As you approach the temple, a large fieldstone building with a peaked slate roof, you notice that it is being assaulted by three groups:
The first group is using a makeshift battering ram to break down the main gate, (3 cultists? and 6 kobolds)
The second group is running around the temple, currently by the first group, screaming their heads off, (3 cultists?, 10 kobolds, 2 large lizards)
And the third group is trying to set a fire against the rear door of the temple. (2 cultists? and 6 kobolds)
From inside the temple, you can hear the screams of villagers.
This one might be an especially tough battle. It's probably suicide to mount a full frontal assault on the raiders, all at once, but if you take them one at a time, it might work out better.

"Let's circle around and take out that fire team first. They're separated from the others-isolated. We can take them out quickly, before they join the others.

Agreed?"

Action: I vote for we attack the fire team first.

Arwen nods. "Seems like a good plan. Let's do it."

"I agree.  We may be able to evacuate the survivors through the rear doors as well, though we are few enough in number that I would be loathe to escort any large crowd with a known enemy in pursuit."

Old and cringe account. Disregard.

The group setting the fire is struggling; the wood they're burning is producing only a small amount of flames for a disproportionate amount of  thick, grey smoke. It obscures some of the farther members of the group, but they're so focused on their pyromania, they don't notice four adventurers sneak up on them. You have a surprise round.
