Mirella checked the three living captives, confirming that breathing and pulse were stable and they weren't likely to bleed out or otherwise perish without immediate care.  This done, she removed the 50' roll of rope and bound the three living captives together.

Action: Bind up the captives with the 50' hempen rope.

Arwen moves over to the Dwarf with the heart tattoo and whistles. "This dude got AROUND. Also probably got his heart broken a lot. Poor bastard."

After stashing the unconscious bodies of the raiders in the tunnel, the group splits and Arwen, Mirella and Johanna (dressed in grungy robes) sneak off into the night.
(Stealth rolls:
Arwen: 19+1, 9+1 at Disadvantage. Success!
Mirella: 20, 20 at Disadvantage! Success!
Johanna: 5+1. Failure!)
As you dash across a street to pass by a group of raiders, Johanna trips almost in the middle of the street. The humans are already in cover, and are vigorously gesturing for her to get up. The process of getting up is interrupted by a reptilian bark of Draconic, a language which only Johanna and Arwen speak.
/Hey! Dwarf!/
Johanna, her hand and knees still in the dirt freezes and slowly turns her head to look at the shouter, which turns out to be a kobold leading a pack of other kobolds.
The leader shouts again, /Yah! You! Have you heard the new orders? There is [a party of adventurers]* out and about. Have you seen anything?/

* The literal translation of this term is "killers of many tribes", but "a party of adventurers" is the closest translation in meaning in the Kobold dialect of Draconic, Yipyak.

Sweetpea returns to the keep, and is pointed to a crenelation where the Governor is watching the torches of the raiders dance through his streets like tiny, burning ants. Once aware of your presence, he turns to you, and the worry grows in his eyes as he sees that you are alone.
"What happened? Where are the others?"

Arwen steps out from the shadows, assisting Johanna to her feet.

/"If we had, either they'd be dead or we'd be dead. We were on our way back to get orders when we got turned around... Stupid towns... Could you point us towards them?"/

RUSE MODE IS A GO.

Deception with advantage for speaking Draconic and one of your wearing a disguise: 1+1, 1+1. ((Oh. Oh no. This was after giving you advantage after you rolled a 1.))

The kobold shouts out /You're the [a party of adventurers]! Get them! There's only two of them! They're at half strength!/
It flares out a pair of bat-like wings for emphasis.

"Alright, enough of this...

~Kalal Lînem!~"
Johanna incanted, weaving her hammer in a circular motion-a small shimmering blob of steaming green liquid flew from her hammer and popped above the Kobolds, sending a nasty rain of acid on them...

Action: Acid Splash on the Winged Kobold and Kobold 1!

DEX Saving throwing 13 on both targets, or...
Damage: 1d6 Acid each

Arwen, in one smooth movement, draws his sword and slashes across the Kobold's chest, (Attack: 6+7, Success!) (Damage: 5+4) sending them to the ground in a spray of brown-red blood.
Johanna's blobs of acid (Reflex: ... Fail!) strike Kobold 1, (Damage: 4) melting most of its face off.

She'd reported to the mayor that they'd cleared the path a little - they'd killed and captured the kobolds and dwarves that had seemed to be searching for the secret entrance. It was probably safe for them to evacuate people, as long as they did it subtly... she'd left the prisoners tied up inside the tunnel, so they were out of sight of any rescuing patrol, and the bodies disposed of in a pile similiarly out of sight.

---

Back in the present, from cover she loosed an arrow at the second kobold, before melting back into the shadows.

Mirella watched and tried to stay quiet as Arwen tried to bluff them.  Apparently, from the looks on everyone's faces, it didn't work, especially after the winged kobold started screeching.  Moving forward, Mirella brought the quarterstaff around to strike at the nearest kobold still on its feet

The governor informs the Elf that they are not planning on evacuating; the walls will hold. He sends a few men to recover the prisoners and suggests that they should awaken by the time that the party returns and they should interrogate them.

Sweetpea (Attack: 16+6) fires off a perfect shot to the sternum, downing the kobold in a single shot.
Mirella charges up to the final kobold, (Attack: 20! CRITICAL!) striking it on the head, knocking it out with a satisfying clonk.

You move on, and quickly come across a family of seven and return to the keep unaccosted.

115 XP for everyone!

In the keep, the governor suggests that you interrogate the just waking up prisoners. Should you start with the Kobolds or the Dwarf?

"I'll talk to the Kobolds, if you want." Arwen volunteers, cleaning his blade of the new blood, using some clean water he brought with him.

"I guess I get the Dwarf, then?" Johanna said miserably...the violence was wearing on her mind.

Still, they had saved a whole family of innocent people. Surely, her own misgivings were a small price to pay for their safety. Johanna had a notion that if this was the life she wanted to pursue, this type of violence would never be any more terrible than it was now-and if she was a good person, she would never let herself get too eager for it. Johanna had always been eager to use her powers...but, perhaps until now, she had never thought of the consequences.

She needed more time to think these things over, to process these thoughts further than mere mental scribblings-but reality intruded. They weren't done yet.

She held the image of three young children clinging to their mother, her husband with a steadying hand on her shoulder-an image that would stay with her for as long as she lived, especially when she had to do hard things. That was who this was all for. For them...simple thoughts at that moment, but they would shape the person Johanna would become-if she lived long enough, anyway.

Action: Let's go prod some prisoners!

The group, the castellan and the governor enter the cellar, where the kobolds and the dwarf are chained to the wall, about 30 feet apart. Arwen and Sweetpea begin to interrogate the kobold in the center of the trio, while Johanna and Mirella interrogate the Dwarf.

Arwen and Sweetpea:
The kobold is still groggily waking up, blinking sluggishly in the torch light. It likely doesn't realize what's going on.

Johanna and Mirella
The Dwarf is wide awake, and sits with a silent scowl cemented on his face. He spits at your boots, blood and teeth flashing in the flickering torchlight.
