Could we manage a dark volcano temple with a torture basement?  Could put a fighting pit in there if you want.

Not a problem! Good to have you on board.

Man, I'm having a tough time finding a suitable spot for my fortress.

All the streams are in huge valleys, all the stone is ugly brown siltstone or conglomerate, and the first cavern is within five z's of the surface.  After the last disaster, I'm thinking I'll just lock them all in a vault to keep the baddies out.

I suppose you could also just embark with loads of the stone of your choice and make tons of blocks...

Or we could mod in a 'Stone transmutation circle' with reactions to transform stone into different stones. A USE FOR THE ALCHEMY LABOR!!!!!

I'd rather keep the game unmodded - there have been too many game-breaking bugs lately that I'm loathe to tempt Fate by adding something random in.

Yeah, fair enough. Sorry about the hiatus, had some computroubles. The gremlin responsible has been impaled on an artifact elf bone spear (menaces with spikes of giant cave spider chitin), dunked in magma and atom smashed. However, he did admire a masterfully designed upright spear/spike lately!

Don't worry Saint, I know the feels man. I have a bunch of schoolwork too. Multimedia is a lot more labor intensive than I thought...
