We could also attempt to construct an infantry force of some sort, though without a source of iron we may have issues keeping them properly armed. We can reasonably assume a force of axemen with hatchets, but armor for proper soldiers and knights may be impossible without significant investment on your part. Finally, while we may also hire mercenaries temporarily until you return... they can be a disloyal lot, especially when not kept under a strict hand, and we have no idea for how long you will be called to service."

Tirena approached reasonably close to the flower-girl - enough to smell the roses, so to speak.

"Where... where did the dragon come from?" She gestured in the direction of the wyvern.

"Oh, Rhodon?" asked Acacia as she turned away from the Wyvern in question.

"I kind of... borrowed him from home and rode him here. Turns out that he didn't really want to go back home after I had told him to."

"Oh, is it.. is it tame?"

[Furtuka]

"Of course!... and Rhodon is a he by the way.

...What do you mean by kind of borrowed?"

Tirena seemed a little nervous at the notion of the giant lizard. For the most part, animals were not her thing.

"Errrrm. He actually use to be my brother's mount, and I miiiiight have taken him from my parents without telling them when I came here. And this armor. And some supplies....  or telling them where I was going."

Vara had wandered back to the castle and was looking over the weaponry that the man had to offer. Spotting a long slim steel blade, her eyes lit up. Picking it up, she tested the balance and weight and grinned.

"When you put it that way, we should acquire a mix of trained men and mercenaries. Our men should outnumber the mercs so that should they prove disloyal all they do is leave rather than turn on us. We should also pick from our men the most willing and experienced and anoint them as commander of our forces and give them special training. That will be the one who I invest armor on along with one or two others who show serious skill."
