"Oh hello, I'm Lord Heston's new retainer. You must be some of the ones who traveled here with him, correct?

"I am Lady Acacia Bribush. And you are?"

"Er, well, sorta. If you're a new retainer then you must have met the lord while we were still in the courtyard. What was the interview like? What kind of questions did he ask?

Oh, I'm Lilie, by the way. Lilie Alptraum, no title."

[Furtuka]

"Oh he didn't really ask me any questions other than what was I here for. We had a nice spar instead."

"It was the most fun I've had in weeks actually. He's quite skilled with a lance, in fact he came close to beating me near the end."

[UXLZ]

"It can be quite entertaining. I doubt we'd make good partners though, since I use the sword."

[GiglameshDespair]

"And I, for my part, am Lady Tirena Nererand, though you may call me Tirena. I can't stand these formal, dusty titles, no? I'm an archer myself, if you believe it."

[Furtuka]

"Hey don't count me out so fast, I'm always up to try something new."


  "Nererand? That sounds familiar... oh weren't you the Royal Playmate?" she said as she turned to face her, and was able to see her face clearly.

"Oh dear."

[UXLZ]

"Mm... That isn't really the problem, but I guess we could try. Somehow I have the feeling you'd have quite the advantage though, it's awfully difficult to get near to someone waving a large polearm around like that with a sword."

"Do I have something on my face?" She said wryly.

[Powder Miner]

Curiously, Kristii took up all of the small stack of tomes and popped them under her robe, scampering off back to the wall to lie down and try to read the weird magic books. Or something. Kristii wasn't a magic expert!

[Furtuka]

"No, no I'm sorry. I had forgotten what had happened. I've heard of it from my parents before and..."

Acacia shook her head wildly.

"So uh, how have you two found working for Charles so far?"

[GiglameshDespair]

"Don't worry about it, Lady Rose."
"But you remembered correctly. I was El- er, the Crown Princess' playmate, and I lost my sight in that duty. As for the boss, I can't say I've really been here much longer than you. He seems earnest, at least."

[UXLZ]

Lilie's ears perked up at the slip.

"El?"

[Glowcat]

"Really? That's unfortunate. Longbows are my weapon of choice. I may be blind, but I have a talent for archery."
She turned her face towards Luca and smiled gently.
"I apologise, but I didn't catch your name, miss. Might I have the honour?"

The tome merchant pulled her hood over her head and cloak tighter around herself before she mumbled something that might have sounded like "Luca"

"Sorry, sis doesn't talk to people much, especially strangers."

"I always tell her that she'd do better at business if she'd come out of her shell but gestures and price tags have been enough for her to get by so far."

"El what?"

"So Tirena, how did you wind up here? I know I've been out of the loop for a while, but I didn't expect to find someone so close to her majesty in a place like this."
