I dunno, with lotsa green on land... To me that means plant equivalents. And where there is plants, there are consumers.

Well, lets head on down to that orbit and start looking around for landing spots.

We might also want to think about cobbling together a small sat of some form, to push out of the airlock in a suitable orbit, as a sort of very simple weather sat and beacon to the ark.
Just a camera, comms unit, some power production/storage and a tiny propulsion system.

Also, how does Nor aygi Tun sound for a planetary or outpost name?

We did install the combined med bay/workshop/entertainment center right?  Just not seeing it on our build.  Got that instead of the full LSL so I am just making sure we at least have that accounted for.

Nor aygi Tun - Not sure what that means.

Something like green or island or something similar would make for a good name.

Chiron for the planet's name. Alpha Centauri, after all.

http://www.nasa.gov/centers/goddard/news/topstory/2007/spectrum_plants.html

Alpha Centauri B is a K1V star, this means more red and less blue light, so the plants shouldn't be green, but more bluish.

On a side note, chance is they're some kind of microbiological lifeform.

The green could also be large areas with copper heavy sand or something along those lines.

Chances for that are rather slim...

Better than plants, actually.

...well, I didn't know that about plant colors and light, so retconning it be greenish blue swathes of land.

And yes, just the LSL database so you can get the MPCH mod B

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

I think the general consensus is Alpha Centauri B 1, but that we should get into orbit first to get a closer look.

Alright, orbit B1 in order to study it?  Is that correct?

Yes.

EDIT: Have the crew members' genomes been added to the LSLD?

Yes.

Alpha Centauri B1

The Yerkri Astgheri settles into orbit around this planet. It is slightly smaller than Earth(by about 7% in volume), though the local gravity is around 1.074, which suggest more abundance of heavier elements and a denser crust. It has a strong magnetic field, and active tectonics, as evidenced by a volcano chain in the large southern ocean. It has a 40 earth-hour day, and a 168 Earth-day year. and also has an axial tilt of 32 degrees, making for rather spectacular weather systems and abrupt seasons. It also occupys an equivilant orbit that would be 10-15% closer to Venus than earth would be if it orbited Sol, meaning temperatures tend to be higher(in fact, there is little to no polar ice caps).

Speaking of oceans, there are around 4, neatly dividing the continents into NE SW SE and W, with the largest (SW) Continent being around the square milage of Asia. There also appears to be an abundant number of rivers spread across the continents, and an overabundance of plant life; the local foliage tend towards triple-canopy jungle, and is rather thick acros all the continents. The only real breaks in the jungle is with rivers and mountains.

Speaking of mountains and breaks in the trees, there's a rather impressive range on the northern continent that's bordered by high plateaus with more grassland than forest; there's an interesting spot overlooking a huge canyon that appears to be the convergence of two different rock layers. there's also another likely spot on the SE continent on the coast, where it appears one of the crustal plates dives under another, causing an uplift area to form. Here rocky outcroppings form towers that shade the ground below, though there is a bit of a hike to the nearest fresh water.

Finally, you spy an area on the west continent that appears to be the only desert region. There is a large river running straight through, allowing for a verdant riverland to form, perfect for farming. Though, minerals might be a bit hard to come by...
