Alpha Centauri B 1. ACA1 is going to give us malformed children from all the radiation and PC1 is going to attack us with earthquakes, lava, and farts. As for closer investigation, let's see if we can't get the ship into a close orbit. How are we expected to land, by the way?
The radiation is unlikely to be too harmfull compared to space.

On a side note, life might impact our lifesupport and other systems. It will infiltrate our systems, trigger allergic reactions in crew, and it's quite unlikely for oxygen levels to match.

Well, looks like that its ACB1 or PC1 for us. Personally, I would go with PC1 for now, since ACB1 would probally have something !!FUN!! to deal with, and I would rather let the Arc people deal with that, with us giving support from PC1 with materials and the like.

I don't think we will succeed in setting up a interplanetary resource transfer network with less than 100 people in the timeframe we have. The ark is going to land where we do.

And with tectonic activity comes surface minerals.
With tectonic activity comes earthquakes that'll break our puny shelter and flood our breathing stuff (air) with unbreathable farts. Unbreathable flammable farts.
No oxygen, no fire.

We can design around that easily. Hell, Humanity has designed buildings to survive hydrogen bombs. Few, if any, earthquakes come close to that level of damage.

-ninja edit-

I was rather certain that the ark was gonna sit in orbit, and transfer people down via shuttle.

Well, you could have researched a shuttle bay and do things that way, but as of now the way things work is the ship simply deorbits on a one-way trip to the surface

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

The arc or us?
Us. The Arc departed before we started building.

Well, why bother telling us about how we could have left the ship in orbit when I ask about the Ark?

The Ark also crash lands.

...oops, misunderstood :P

Anyways, if I ever run another of these, I'll give that option as a starting scenario

The Ark also crash lands.
That would have been good to know from the start.

In any event, I still think that PC1 is the better choice.

Assuming that we learn to evolve past the need to breathe oxygen, our air will have it.

Noooo.

I was joking.

Orbit Alpha Centauri B 1.

Even if it has life, humans are really good at exterminating life.  We have the combined knowledge of bacteria genomes from earth, we can design something to eat the native life if we need to.

Oxygen, water, moderate temperatures, earth like gravity, sunlight.

We can fight the native life forms for our new home.

Our very first planet outside of Sol and we're already talking about Exterminatus. Maybe this is a 40k spinoff?

Void, I dont think we have cloning equipment.

We could always take the weapons we where sent with and setup defensive turrets...

Tryrar, can we get a list of the ships systems and cargo? I cant seem to find it.

Nah, most likely the native life is like some kind of simple single celled thing.

I am just saying that if it IS a threat we can deal with it.  I would much rather study it.

But it is not a reason to exile ourselves to the arctic.

No, I was overruled in not taking the full LSL, we only have a computer bank.

We do have the My First Factory kit, which can probably build up a LSL, add in some bacteria from my gut, the seeds in the bio dome and that foot fungus Dave has and we got starting stock.
