Righto, so this is my first attempt running a forum game on this forum, so hopefully it'll go well! Let's get this opening started, shall we?
-The hell is Battle Century G?
A good question. Battle Century G is, in the simplest explanation, "Giant Robot Anime: The Game." To be more precise, it's a set of rules designed to emulate a giant robot anime or TV show, and let people actually play them! It is actually the SECOND version of the book, and is currently in Beta after being successfully kickstarted. The first version... Let's just say I broke it over my knee my second time playing. This version is much more balanced, statwise. Long story short, it's a lot of fun to play if you dig giant robots. The book will be at the bottom of the post.
-Right, so what's this about?
I'll just write up the intro here to give you guys an idea of how this will look like.
The last thing you remember is a strange vortex opening up as you were going about your day and... then you were here. You sit up, and see a few other people in the clearing you appear to have landed in. You also notice a strange blade at your hip. Upon further examination, it doesn't appear to be made of metal, but of a very complicated motherboard, like you'd see in a laptop... After a few minutes of confusion and introductions, you all stand, and someone else enters the clearing with you, smiling widely. "Oh good! The new Warriors are here! My name is Liz, you should come with me before someone else finds you! Don't worry, I'm on your side." She gives you a kind smile, and bustles you out of the woods to a large, silver building. "Welcome to the New Sengoku Era, everyone! Now, let's get you into your robots, and I'll explain things properly!" She grins, and directs you to a hangar...-Ok, so what am /I/ supposed to do?
Well, first thing's first, I gotta see if anybody's interested first. If three people put in applications, I'll start doing this noise in earnest. I'll need an application, and it goes LIKE THIS! As a note, if desired, I will build a robot for you if you are accepted, but you must build the pilot yourself.
Pilot's Name: I really hope I don't have to explain this one....
Pilot's Age: See above.
Description of Pilot: Words or picture work.
Pilot's Country of Origin: You must choose from one European country, Russia, Japan, or the US. I'll tell you why later. Probably. (I will I promise.)
Concept: Condense your Pilot into a few words.
Stats
You will find costs and templates on page 41 onwards. You start with 130 points. The 100 points is base character creation, the 30 comes from all of you starting at Power Level 1. I WILL BE CHECKING YOUR MATH.
Fitness: How ablebodied your character is. This does not always mean you can win the fight with your bare hands.
Intellect: How smart your character is. This does not always mean you know what to say.
Charm: How charismatic your character is. This does not translate directly to good looks.
Awareness: How in tune you are to your surroundings. This does not automatically mean you'll notice everything.
Willpower: Your strength of will.
Resources: How well connected you are, and how good you are at using those connections.
Skills: You are not allowed to start with Miracles.
Traits: Do not take Polyglot.
Equipment: Sure take one. They're fun!
Deathblows: There will be at least 2 on foot combat sessions, possibly more depending on characters, so do not feel like buying one of these will not be worth the points.
Anomalies: If you give me a REALLY GOOD REASON you might be able to have one.
GENRE
Reason: Why you do what you do. Staying true to it nets you GP. GP is good.
Typecast: Where you fit in among the group. Playing out conflicts or getting along with your party while in this role nets you GP. GP is GOOD.
Bane: Something that gets you into trouble. Letting this get you into MORE trouble will net you some delicious GP. GP will usually help you get OUT of said trouble.
Genre Power: You get the six basic ones in the book, plus one additional power from that chapter. They are VERY useful.
Genre Points: You start each session with 1. Each session will end when a respective day ends, so they basically refresh with every sunrise, with some exceptions.
ROBOT
Name of Robot: You should know this one.
Description of Robot: This as well.
Concept: Don't get TOO off the wall with this and you should be fine.
Robots use 100 Mech Points to start off with, then 30 more for being at Power Level 1.
Might: How hard your mech hits.
Guard: How hard your mech can GET hit.
Threshold: How much your mech can take before it blows up.
Energy: Used to activate certain weapons and effects, refreshes every turn.
Systems: Good for support, long-reach weapons, and calling for help.
Speed: How fast your mech moves across the battlefield.
Each of your mech's upgrades and weapons is assigned to one of five areas, which can be messed up during combat. They can also be repaired during combat, but the lesson is if you put all of your stuff in your mech's arms and they get torn off, you may be in a lot of trouble.
