Dorf stuck in place
« on: January 29, 2015, 09:25:33 am »

The dorf occasionally get stuck, in the same area.

The area was once his bedroom, and a makeshift hospital. The bed was an artifact stone bed. Because he was stressed so I gave him the bedroom to cheer him up. Since then he began to get stuck somewhere near the bed. I had to use dfhack fastdwarf command to teleport him. When I got a baroness, I kicked him out and reassigned the room to the noble.

But sometimes he still got stuck in that room. I don't know why he still went there. I checked his thought, he did felt happy near a fine bed and a fine cabinet(hey Urist they are not yours!), so maybe it was not all that bad? Or not. I used dfhack to teleport him and he sometimes ended up in the artifact stone bed, doing nothing, then wandered away.

I did some !!science!!. I let him smooth the floors in that room and he got stuck everytime...

When this happened he couldn't move. The job showed drink, eat, sleep, or any kind of jobs he was doing. So far only fastdwarf 1 1 can free him from starving.

Edit*

1) There's no burrow form him.
2) He has that problem both when in active military status or civ mode.
3) He has his own bedroom.

That sounds like a bug, but I can't find anything like it on the tracker.
Have you seen any other dwarves act in a similar way?

The report is extremely unclear, i'm afraid.

Can it be that the dwarf is not just stressed but "haggard" or "haunted"? In that case, a dwarf will be prone to suffer temporary fits of madness (that they'll later recover from, until the next episode). During those phases of depression, obliviousness and tantrums, they'll do whatever their type of breakdown demands - lie on the floor sobbing, stumble around obliviously or punch/demolish something nearby. They'll keep doing that for several days at a time, completely ignorant of player commands and sometimes displaying normal jobs they aren't actually performing.

To verify whether the dwarf is afflicted by temporary insanity, you'll have to check the message log ("<dwarf> has slipped into depression..." and the like) or look at the dwarf directly - by the "v" command or by zooming to creature from the units screen. The overall unit list doesn't show temporary insanity and DTherapist _probably_ doesn't.

Yeah, he used to be haggard, years ago.
Maybe some timers were not reseted?

But since I've used dfhack, maybe I "broke" something with fastdwarf in the past...

Some voice: Urist, your should have died in that small room years ago but someone saved you by cheating. Now I curse you. Dare you step in the area, you'll be haunted by your own ghost.
