What did your adventurer do after they retired?

Title says it all.

ITT: adventurer's life after retirement, discussion of interesting legends history

After retirement, my adventurer became a sheriff, militia captain, and finally a Lord all in one year.

He moved to my fortress 12 months later.

Immediately abdicated his status as lord of a decently large city and moved into a house just outside of the castle.

My adventurer settled down in a small town.

Goblins constantly attacked the town and my hero gained quite a few kills.
Five years later, my adventurer was killed by a goblin soldier...  :'(
