As far I can see, no major change was done in my absence, right? I never played with the actual build, my last fort was talked into the old thread.
nope, no major changes. some odd bugs here and there, but nothing major. the sprites seem to be moving along, we have a succession/tutorial fort running and apparently the larva pits need some work, but otherwise just fixing and balancing.
So... any plan about updating this into 40.xx with the newest Masterwork Reborn stuff? I'm asking that since yeah, working on the actual build is cool, but maybe it could feel a little pointless to continue adding stuff, and something like the (actual?) broken larva pit could work in a different way since the new DF version.
I totally agree. Wasps have plenty of features already, and updating should be our first priority. The thing is, like all masterwork races, wasps use lots of scripts. Until these scrips are ported to the new edition, we can't make a hive with even half of its features (most importantly, with a working reproduction system). I could update the raws, but only that.
By the way, here are some things I expect to work differently:
-ranged weapons may or may not need rebalancing
-pits are more dangerous (a wasp trying to pit an enemy may panic and let him escape.)
-the new locations in the adventure mode are looking very interesting. Maybe we can give them something other than detailed caves. I think I read of a way to make them build small shacks in hills
-with the new speed gaits I'll have an easier time buffing up some (currently useless) mutations. Maybe even make a couple of new ones
Anyway, if there is any update, if you can please update me so I can rejoin the ranks for new working Hives, I will be grateful.
Thank you for your help. Unfortunately, we won't be able to make any major updates in the foreseeable future. The project is perfectly alive, but with none of our scripts working for now I don't see the point in starting an update that will be half-finished at best. If only I knew more about dfhack...
The only thing we can do is call it a full release as soon as the sprites are ready.
However, if you like succession forts, we are currently running a succession/tutorial fort called Spawnedfiles and we're currently looking for overseers. I completed the first year and covered most of the waspen stuff (I even found a couple of possible tweaks and a bug). Here's the thread.
