Why not arm ourself with the gear of a thracian peltast holding our javelins in our shield hand throwing with the right hand short sword on the right hip for a fast draw
((More than just the thracians did that))
Yeah i've read the everyone around the mediteranian did that

Because our signature weapon is our trident.
Trident in right hand shield with javelins in left

Yeah they had 2 i believe a light one and a heavy one the heavy one was made for messing shields up

The light one is the more long ranged one in most ancient and medieval battlefields with bodies remaining the wounds are mostly on the legs beneath the shield

We did that once. The javelins ended up being completely useless. The net has helped us win every time.

BOTH javelins messed shields up. The only difference between the two is that the heavy one had a weighted ball at the end of the wooden shaft so it would do more damage, but their shield-disabling design was otherwise the same.

EDIT: The lighter one was thrown first because it had more range.

Shield dosabling coming from the soft metal tip which bent on impact making it impossible to pull out IIRC

If the shield is hardwood like most shields actually used then the light one wouldn't pierce it maybe damage it though

Actually, it came from the shank - not the tip. It was the shank that bent that made pulling it out more difficult but otherwise made it useless as a throwing weapon after one use, ensuring it couldn't be thrown back.

In some one norse saga it describes a guy pulling the pin on a spear so it can't be thrown back maybe we can try that

Wrong. The shape of the tip (non-standard, made to pierce through shields) and the weight of the shank made them very effective at piercing shields. Heavy ones were likely (personal theory) meant to have a chance of piercing behind the shield as well.

Shank?

When I say top I mean the whole metal shaft thing extending from the wooden part... I don't know my javelin parts

That's the shank. Heavy pila had lead balls where the shaft and the shank met.
