[18 v 16-entangled]
You stab back down and the lands in his his gut, tearing apart his insides
the ground behind you opens and you can hear a tiger growling

Take the net off the dude and get behind him so that he's between us and the tiger. If the tiger seems to focus on us, throw some more sand at it (assuming we have some), throw our net, and stab stab stab.

It will take too long to untangl the guy. No, instead we should impale the guy further on our trident, then pick the trident up so that he is still on it, and swing the trident around at the tiger, making it so that the corpse of the guy swings off of our trident, into the tiger!

Spoiler: Dual-wielding stuff (click to show/hide)

Just adding my two cents about duel-wielding. Basically, it's always better to have two one-handed weapons than just one, otherwise you're wasting your other hand.

((Not so. Shields have always been considered a solid choice and in the case of heavily armored combat, being able to grapple your foe is vital.))

Except in my example it's a choice between one one-handed weapon and nothing else or two one-handed weapons. Also, we're not dealing with an armoured enemy so grappling really isn't as relevant.

Along with the case that generally one would dual-wield short weapons such as daggers and one would use a something like a longsword for one handed weapons for added benefit of range, possible two handed uses, anti-spear techniques for singular swords, and easier maneuvering for advancements for other strikes. Though having an extra weapon on hand is always a good thing on you, or terrible if you end up with a master of sleight of hand.

Eskrima pulls duel wielding off quite nicely, IIRC one is used to parry/disarm and the other for striking.

Onto the game

You pull the trident out and grab the net [8 v 11] the tiger tackles you while you struggle to get the net off.
You have a pocket of sand and a free arm with a trident
