Rush to grab the trident and try to have him fall upon it, like a bear falling into a spear.

Get back up and start crying and then lunge forward and bite him in the neck to catch him off guard.

Grab his sword and hack away at him. At close range, a sword is better than a trident.

I disagree with this. The current gladiator is not trained in swords, he is trained in tridents. I would rush to get that trident and use it to finish him off.

[14 v 9]
You sit up and begin crying
The crowd stops cheering, some even calling you coward
Then you jump up catching the other gladiator unaware and bite his neck, crushing his wind pipe and cutting open one of his arteries.
The taste of blood fills your mouth as you let go and stand back up, the other falls over dead and the crowd cheers your victory.

You have won
Would you like to change your equipment before the next match?

((IIRC axes suck at cleaving through armor, the only reason a sword would be good against it is for the jabbing and speed that you can get when swinging for exposed bits. If you get another shielded heavy armor guy the javelins would make the shield useless but you would need to take off his arms/legs or slice his through with an axe, there would be no spilling his guys. The trident could have easily been stabbed into the guy or thrown into him, and pulled back out for massive effect))

This kind of axe. It has a blunt bit on the opposite side of the head that allows for anti-armour action.

I almost chose throwing knives but chose javelins instead because we're skilled in javelins but we're not skilled in throwing knives.
