Sorry for all the questions, but I am kinda stuck on a dumping problem. I have a 2x3 refuse pile inside (subterranean) room. One of the tiles I turned into a 1x1 pit going down about 8 z levels and then marked that square as a 1x1 dump zone. Next a yak pet following a dwarf around died from starvation since he was not pastured. So.. I set the body to dump. Nothing happened, so I took off the dump maker. After a while a dwarf put him in the refuse pile one square down and right of the garbage chute. I then labeled him for dumping but nothing happened. The body just sat there until it rot and flooded the area with miasma. What am I doing wrong?
I am also trying to open a caged turkey gobbler. For some reason I brought all hens on embark, so I bought one from the first trade caravan. However I put the cage right beside a lever and it says there is nothing to open when I try to link up to a cage. I thought a lever would open a cage. Arggg!@!#!
**Edit I do not know if it is intended or not, but I guess one of the more recent updates now disallows dump sites from being placed on top of a channeled out hole in the ground. I could have swore you could before. I deleted the dump site, placed one in the hallway and dwarves showed up to 'dump' everything there. It just does not like it when I place one on an open space for the purposes of making a garbage chute.
**Edit 2.. I just noticed a help sub forum, so am going to copy and paste this in there. A mod maybe should lock this or delete it. Thanks.
