My first instinct is to shift it further away from the door and poke it with a broomstick, but that's not an option.  I suppose I'll go 2 as well.

You slowly pick up the box and bring it inside to your kitchen table, where Joyeuse peers at it curiously with you.

Unwrapping it, you see a motor attached to a jar of a clear liquid with wires attaching it to a breadboard. You notice some components scrounged from a digital watch on the breadboard.

This is a bomb. You don't know when it is going to go off, but it is definitely on a timer. You think it would be bad to bump the jar, since the motor seems designed to shake it.

1) I'll disarm the bomb myself. How hard could this be?
2) Tell Joyeuse to disarm the bomb while I hide from the blast.
3) Call the police.
4) Run. Now.

3.  There is no excuse not to leave it to the fully-trained authorities.  Get Joyeuse, evacuate, and leave.

You dial the police and wait for someone to pick up.

Brrrrrrrring!

1) Keep waiting.
2) Tell Joyeuse to try to disarm the bomb.
3) Holding the phone to my ear, I hurry out the back door.

You run out the back door and Joyeuse follows close behind.

An explosion shatters the windows of your apartment, setting off car alarms all around the block. A raging fire blazes within. You quickly dial 911, then enlist the help of Joyeuse and neighbors to douse the flames with a bucket brigade while waiting for help to arrive. But it is too late. One by one, you see your possessions inside crack and burn, while the flames near the front door prevent you from entering.

You start to feel sorry for yourself as you realize this is the second home you've lost in a few months—first, your apartment on campus, and now, this one. You'd hardly moved in. All those cardboard boxes probably burned pretty well.

"What am I going to do, Joyeuse?" you say miserably.

"'Why give ye thought for raiment?'," says Joyeuse. "'Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they do not toil, nor do they spin. Yet I say unto you even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed such as these.'"

You stare at Joyeuse. "What?"

"Sorry, Master. I was just trying to cheer you up with a quote I got off the Internet." It adds tentatively, "I think it means homeless people like you are like flowers."

You sigh.

One by one, reporters start to show up in their local news vans, setting up cameras that stream video of your destroyed apartment to the Internet. (++Fame)

You're pretty certain that the bomb was sent by Tammy, who sent you that death threat. Will you respond in kind?

1) Yes. Tonight is payback time.
2) No, the jazz concert will go on as planned.
3) I think I need to find a place to sleep, actually.

Fuck this noise. We need to get some normal time.

2. And I hope to GOD we can introduce Joyeuse to the sweet sounds of some smooth jazz.

2. The show must go on.  And we could use something to burn off the stress of losing almost everything except Joyeuse in a single day.  No sense stewing over Tammy, and while there's a practical sense in 3, I'll admit that not having to think of what a hash this day has been is a bit tempting.

Let's face it, Elly is very probably our only hope for funding at this point. We've alienated Zieglir and basically ignored Josh.
