That's probably a good idea. Maybe he hijacked some of Tiamat's powers? It'd certainly piss her off~

It would certainly explain your random and unexplained lust for power!

It has been determined that Trump is an average unladen swallow travelling northbound at his maximum sustainable speed of -3 Obama-cubits per second in the middle of a class 3 hurricane.

Eh, he figures that disrupting that ritual has put a target on his back for Tiamat and her followers. He wants to be able to stop them if they try anything.

Oh, and my IRL group tells me that 95% of the NPCs I make are dicks.
So, the idea behind the dick smith is two-fold. Firstly, he realized that ya'll are loaded, so he could get away with larger costs. Secondly, he literally is the only smith within 50 miles, making him the only local supplier of weapons, so prices are, again, higher.
I hope that explains why he's a dick.
Yes, yes it does, but he's not actually the only smith for 50 miles right now.  Merh.
Well, he's the only one with a forge.
Johanna's magical tutorial is all the justification you need!

Anyway, I would work it into the campaign with something like that. For example, what if coming into close contact with that weird void orb during your wrestling match the with the Lizard guy somehow charged Arwen with latent arcane magic? The GM should really get in on this too-if he's going to be dropping runestones for my PRC, he can probably figure out a way you can take eldritch knight without it being to jarring.
Hmmmmmmm.....
Yeah, I like this idea, the void orb thing connecting him to the weave.

Yes, I suppose you know nothing about the setting. :P

The Weave is literally the fabric that makes up all sources magic in Faerun (the world we are in).

Also, the weave blew up about a hundred years ago. Almost took the whole world with it. I think I've mentioned this before! It's better now. Probably.

You are correct in your supposing. I figured Magic was just Magic, didn't realize there was a name for it. But duly noted on all counts.

Can I just say how seriously confusing the history of the Forgotten Realms is? I mean, there's been at least three different goddesses with nigh identical names in control of magic. That's ignoring the fact that magic kinda stopped working for about a decade, and stayed broken until about a decade ago. And I can't imagine how screwed up the religious world is, with gods dying and being brought back willy nilly.

I'm disappointed there was no magical training montage! On the other hand, it seems Arcanewen is more a Sorcerer than a wizard, so my lore is intact. Sorcerers don't need training, they just have it inherent.

Also, hopefully I can convince the GM to have Arwen burst into flames...
