Story: [Chapter 1]
Turns: [Turn 1] [Turn 2] [Turn 3] [Turn 4] [Turn 5] [Turn 6] [Turn 7] [Turn 8] [Turn 9] [Turn 10] [Turn 11]

Background Story
Year 2079

The world did not end in an atomic world war yet, and technologically, we keep progressing steadily.
Diseases are mostly defeated and the average lifespan is 190 years.
Weapons and wars are still our passion, and there are still hundreds of thousands and millions dying in dumb wars out there.
We have small colonies on Moon and Mars, both international projects, but still have no sign of alien life.

But that was to change drastically

One day, a big asteroid crashed into our planet.
All our precautions failed, and when we realized it, it was already too late.
The consequences were dramatic, tsunamis destroyed most coastal cities, and earthquakes did the same to many inland cities.
Volcanous spit molten rock and smoke into the air, leaving large parts of the planet in darkness.
Forest fires, all kind of people going crazy.
It was a terrible time after the impact.

And as if that wasn't enough, it turned out that the asteroid brought alien life with it.
The asteroid contained an organic alien virus, and it reproduced with an absurd speed.
Killing most of its victims, it also mutated some.
The mutations ranged from additional limps to complete "overhauls",
leaving behind scared cripples and terrifying monsters alike.

Many people died in the weeks after that, some fled into bunkers and cellars, metro stations and caves,
trying to survive in the vast underground we never paid attention to before.

Some cities were prepared for an event like this and built large bunkers beforehand.
But these bunkers contained statis capsules to freeze the inhabitants until the catastrophe was over and they could repopulate the planet.

There are about 10 of these bunkers spread around the world, each able to contain a few hundred people.

And in one of them, our story begins

Chapter 1: Rude Awakening
Now

...
*beep*
...
*beep*
...
*beep*

With a loud hiss, the front side of the capsule opens, showing a dark skinned man in a light blue overall.
Slowly, he opens his eyes and steps out of the chamber.

His eyes wander around the bunker, and he remembers how they were evacuated and brought into the capsules.
He is the head of the security crew, and obviously there is some problem.
A worried look on his face, he checks the terminal attached to his capsule for details about the emergency.

It turns out that someone, or something, tried (and failed) to open the bunker doors.

He starts a scan of the surroundings and checks the date.

Year 2171... 92 years!

The scan shows a clean air, no traces of the aggressive virus, and around the bunker the cameras show the ruins of the city.
There is nothing moving, neither man nor creature, but something obviously is out there.

Suddenly there sounds another alert, and the terminal signals a second attempt to enter the bunker.
This time the cameras capture the intruder - it is a giant, four-legged beast, not resembling any known animal.

Shortly after the alarm started, some more pods are unsealed, and soon the head of security is surrounded by a group of people in the same uniform, obviously his team.

Together, they are 17 guards now.

"We aren't complete? You two, stay here and check the pods. Find the rest of our team and check the other people.
Three of you come with me, we will need to check the weapon storage and take care of our guest.
The rest of you, check the bunker and systems if everything is fine."

Hello folks,

I decided to launch a new forum game.
Just like my former games, it's an ISG and, in this case, a colony builder.
What the world looks like and what creatures are roaming the planet isn't yet decided,
I will create the world as the game progresses.

The population will mostly be handled in an abstract way - not everyone will get a name and face.
They will be separated into professions - Scientists, Engineers, Builders, Crafters, Fighters, Farmers, and so on.
Only single individuals who play a more important role as leaders, advisors or story elements will be more detailed.

Updates will appear depending on your activity and my time frame, but I will try to do an update at least once a day.

So... let's begin. :)

[Story and turn overview in the opening post]

Turn 1
June 2171

The security leader and three of his team are on their way to the bunker entrance to take care of the intruder.
Two guards stay inside the capsule hall, trying to find out if there is any problem.

Active tasks
Check the weapon storage and take care of the intruder. 3 Guards(2 turn remaining)
Check the capsule hall. 2 Guards (1 turn remaining)

Population
Guards: 17 (11 idle)

Advisors
Thomas Sinclear, Security Leader
The scanners and entrance cameras are still working, but there is some problem with the server, and the energy supply in here seems to be unstable. Since we can't reach most of the software on the server, we have to check everything manually.
We should definitely figure out what's up with the generators and servers. Check the generators and servers
We also should take a look at the storage, to see if the cool systems and other things are still functioning. Check the storage
We also need to check the food production. It can be activated and runs mostly automatically then, but not fully. Check the food production
The living quarters should be fine, but we should make sure, anyway. Check the living quarters

Well, since we have enough guards to use the buddy system, Have at least two each check all the places mentioned, with the remaining as a reserve in case of trouble

Edit:If any of the guards happen to have any mechanical/computer knowledge, send them to the servers and generators

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

+1 though, we should also set up a proxy gaurd station at the entrence, just in case. Its a beautiful bottleneck, and extra security measures never hurt. Especially if things go wrong.

[Story and turn overview in the opening post]

Turn 2
June 2171

It turns out that there indeed is a power shortage. Many of the capsules stopped working who knows when, killing what they were supposed to keep safe and alive.
All in all, there are about 250 capsules intact and with living people in it. 250 out of 700...
There are 33 scientists, 77 engineers and 30 guards/fighters.
There are also 52 farmers (not only farmers, but people with knowledge about food production) and 62 workers (for the storage, cleaning, and so on).

The security team spreads out to check the rest of the bunker in teams of 4 guards and some specialists, now that we have the others out of the capsules.

A group of 10 guards an some workers and engineers also follows the Thomas Sinclair to set up a guard post at the entrance.

The remaining people wait inside the capsule hall for now.

Active tasks
Check the capsule hall. (done)

Check the weapon storage and take care of the intruder. 3 Guards(1 turn remaining)
Check the engine section. 4 Guards; 3 engineers (2 turns remaining)
Check the food production. 4 Guards; 3 farmers (2 turns remaining)
Check the living section. 4 Guards (2 turns remaining)
Check the storage section. 4 Guards; 3 workers (2 turns remaining)
Secure the entrance and set up a guard station. 10 Guards; 6 workers; 2 engineers (4 turns remaining)

Population
Guards: 47 (18 idle)
Engineers: 77 (72 idle)
Scientists: 33 (30 idle)
Farmers: 52 (49 idle)
Workers: 62 (56 idle)

450 corpses

Advisors
Thomas Sinclear, Security Leader

Send the more people to weapon storage to get weapons and get ready to fight off the intruder.
I guess the idle people can stay idle until we get a better idea of what resources and tools we have and the bunker's condition. The corpses will have to be buried outside the bunker later.
