Aegerious Cerva
Or the Virus Deer

+1

Seems like all the good tasks have already been posted.

I suggest a name like Svyatogor Colony.

Working on the update now. Gonna post it in the next hours.

I'll give you some more time for a colony name... seriously, hope?

I'll give you a small list of names I think would be fitting,
though you can still choose others.
If more people vote for hope, well, then it will be hope, but until now only 3 people voted, and one against it.

The Bunker
Rabbit Hole
Genesis
Capsulia
Down Below
Walls
Svyatogor Colony (I just noticed this one beging suggested on the last page)

I'll take Aegerious Cerva for the deer (whatever Aegerious means, I couldn't find a fitting translation).

The Crucible. This is the human race's trial by viral monsters and the place is made of metal.

You were planning to have a 15 year old magical girl kill Witches by drinking them under the table!? It's original, at least.

Any other suggestions?

And aegerious is a basterdised version of aeger, Latin for ill, or sick, or sickly.

Good to know. ;)
The update is ready, I'm going to post it in an hour, maybe we get some more choices regarding a colony name until then.

I updated the knowledge database, by the way.

Reconquering
An illustrated suggestion colony (re)builder

[Knowledge Database]
[Story and turn overview in the opening post]

Turn 8
June 2171
The Crucible

The colony shall be called "The Crucible" from now on!

The inhabitants approve of the new name for the mutant deer, "Aegerious Cerva"!

The food production needs raw ingredients to create more edible food.
Your farmers started to plant different crops inside the big greenhouses.
Until they are ready to harvest, your colony will have to live from conserves or hunted meat.

The idle engineers went to the reactors to help their comrades.

The idle workers began to bring intact capsules into the storage.

The guards watching the carcass report strange things happening with it.
The fungus-like stuff on its back seems to move. Obviously it eats the carcass.
They ask if they should kill the things or maybe try to catch them, or just let them eat the corpse.
At their speed, it's gonna take a while, so we can still take samples before they finish eating.

Active tasks
Start the food production. [15 Farmers, 4 Engineers] (turns remaining: done)

Take stock of the armory. [10 Guards, 10 Workers] (turns remaining: 1)
Inspect the server room. [5 Scientists, 5 Engineers] (turns remaining: 1)

Lowering the wall to seperate the capsule hall into hospital and laboratory. (turns remaining: 2)
Salvage (75%) / store away the capsules. [30 Engineers, 27 Workers] (turns remaining: 2)

Ignore them for now.

Anyone else thinking that we should have the science beings gather samples next turn, so they can do lab work as soon as the labs are ready?

I am in partial agreement with you, elfman. I feel we sould observe them, possibly sending out 5 scientist to write down their observations, sketch the creatures, and give them their own name, once we have a better understanding of them. Otherwise, it would be safe to say we do want samples.
Its not safe to say, though, that the samples I am thinking of may put us at risk. I am thinking of taking one alive and another dead. Meaning three would be needed. One to keep alive, one to kill but keep as whole as possible, and one for dissection.

Dead ones oviously having a higher priority than a live one.

Like everyone else is saying, send the scientist to examine the fungus and dead Aegerious Cerva.

The injured guards and guard corpses should be placed in isolation. This is a plague we're talking about here.

The virus itself is long gone, so there is no danger to get infested, at least not from the virus.
They probably shouldn't get to near to the corpse, who knows what diseases it has lingering inside.

Let's just say the helms they are wearing have air filters in them, and the scientists are wearing them, too, just in case.
