Again. We don't need a janitor.

Yeah, we already discussed the solutions to those issues, don't worry. We have to wait until I collate to see if anything further needs to be changed, though.

Made some changes to my character sheet to be a bit more useful for the ship, please tell me if I need to change anything else.

We don't need a backup ship pilot, because we have a Big Box AI and a backup AI to do piloting for us, and much more effectively too.

We might need a backup shuttle pilot, although thats hardly a full-time job. A quartermaster maybe, to check cargo and keep an overview of the manufacting areas, and maybe fly the shuttle if needed. (Which is, weirdly, almost exactly the same size as a real-life space shuttle by a miracle of design)

A backup ship pilot is incase something happens to the AI.

We definitely need a shuttle pilot.

AI can handle quartermaster and manufactory oversight. I mean. The AI Collective sorta did donate the manufactory.

Alright, we have 15 sheets submitted so far. Because in their entirety they break the character limit, I've merely posted a link to each with a very curt summary beneath. Here I focus mainly on skills, other details described in the sheets may still be important.

Here is a very rough list of total skills. Bear in mind this doesn't represent the total number of the crew, since there is some overlap.
-5 biologists, of varying specialties
-1 genetic researcher/engineer
-1 expert in xenomedicine
-1 biotech specialist
-2 chemists
-2, maybe 4 engineers
-1 cultural/lingual researcher
-1, maybe 2 diplomats
-1 shuttle pilot
-1 Psychiatrist
-1 Architect/Xenoarcheologist
-1 Astronomer/Astronavigator

Averus Salamoth of the Salvarand
A bunch of symbiotic worms in a spacesuit
-Basic training in all fields of science
-Specializes in Chemistry and Biology

"Jiggle" of the Gornollions
Highly intelligent snail-like creature
-Worked as a janitor for some reason
-Has a talent in Mechanical Engineering
-Issues noted and discussed via pm
-Begins as a stowaway

Shamus Adversi of [unnamed species]
An insect-like creature comfortable in lower gravities
-Sheet says "Mechanic," but let's make him an engineer, able to design machines as well as repair them.
-If Eugenocorp has the clout in the collab to put someone on this expedition, they should probably send someone more skilled. In light of that, perhaps he should have been working them for long enough to acquire said skills, and they still send him for the same motive due to the lawsuit being ongoing.

As-yet unnamed AI
Newborn member of an AI collective
-Oversees the ship's automated systems

Cathelyn of the Yilgs
Giant amoebae
-Specializes in genetic engineering and architecture
-Architectural knowledge would be useful for archeology of alien sites

Sound-Glorious-And-Bring-New-Life-Unto-Creation of the Stigmites
Very alien, a floating helium-filled skinbag
-Skilled debater (hadn't we made him a diplomat in the planning thread?)
-Skilled shuttle pilot
-mechanic (pobably should bump this up to engineer)

[Needs a name!] of the [Also needs a name!]
An alien with a 6-tentacled body and very mineralistic alternate biochemistry. Can survive in vacuum but needs a suit to protect itself from oxygen, which the ship's atmosphere is mostly full of (!)
-"Specialist EVA Engineer" probably requires more explanation, since I have no idea what that means.
- Need to talk about the biology, I recommend making it metal-oxide based rather than silicon based.

Makai of the Saibir'Sekt
A mechanical being, body is a mass of black nanogoo around an "eye" that serves as the brain
-Diplomat/mediator
-Psychologist/Therapist

Enzarl of the Oousdrag
Slug-like creature with alternate biochemistry (that's still being worked out)
-Astronomer
-Skilled at both making and reading maps of space (which probably also makes her a backup navigator if something happens to the AI)

Ebony Macall of the Terravores
Bipedal, bovine-like alien
-Combat oriented
-Specializes in chemistry, especially making toxins and stimulants

Ra`Sara of the Keox
-Combat oriented
-Expert biologist
-Expert in biotechnology, likely in charge of making sure the life-support works

Indigo Diadem of the Bond-hearts
Symbiotic alien, dragon-like appearance from a previous bond
-Combat oriented
-Military type, likely in charge of security and personal weapons
-Also specializes in studying alien languages and cultures

As yet unnamed AI
We can worry about this one later

S4 of the Umain
Bipedal creature in a cybernetic suit
-Expert biologist, specializes in studying new lifeforms
-Has a wide enough knowledge of xenobiology to medically treat many different species.

MINOGAD NINUK of the Kolpads
Small bipedal creature with thick, horned skull and 3 eyes.
-Biologist (Should probably expand this to more general than "knows the scientific names of things")

What?

I said three-horned and one-eyed, not horned and three-eyed.

And also, about the biologist thing, good point.

Looking back over the thread and ship specs, we need a janitor even less than we previously thought - there's an entire dumb AI quantum computer box dedicated to automation and maintenance!

Also, the manufactorial areas would need someone to at least keep an eye on them. That's why they're designed with organic accessibility in mind. And if the Dumb AI and the smart AI(you),both being right next to the bridge in the most heavily armored part of the ship, are both somehow taken out, then I'm fairly sure the bridge is gone too, or all the ship systems are fried, and no amount of pilots is going to do you any good. It's not like a fighter jet, where is the computers crash you can turn them off and go to manual. There is no manual on a starship.

Manufactory was technically created for construction of the ship. Not with organic accessibility in mind. It had organic accessibility added on post completion.

Nitpicking. Also I'm fairly sure our manufacturing capabilities on board are nowhere near the "build and fit a whole ship" point.

Well, given enough time and material it could handle most of it, aside from a few key components and some of the lab equipment. It would take time to reconfigure some of the equipment for the different tasks required, of course, but I did say "given enough time." I'm assuming rather than have a machine for everything, it's all reconfigurable to certain degrees.

Can I specialize in genetic modification? Not that it will help immensely, of course.
