"How about: no. We have to at least maintain some resemblance of a scientific/exploratory team and not jump straight to violence."

"Not a shred of good humor and adventurous spirit to be found in you people, is there?"

"No, I'm just trying to make sure that this crew doesn't end up in shreds."

"I guarantee that your effort will not be appreciated by them. Indeed, they may take years to even realize we have passed a fake event horizon, let alone absorb much more information than that. It's a wonder our cyberfriend has not decided to euthanize them in their sleep for efficiency's sake."

"A most interesting message, from a most interesting source. I wonder why there is only one source of light here, wherever we are. And that the residents speak our language - most interesting. But can they be trusted? Why do they exclaim their praise at every message?

AI, what is our current course? How did passing the horizon affect our trajectories?

Whatever these entities beyond the Star of Darkness are, their exclamation of praise at every message demonstrates the existence of a religion or higher power they subscribe to. This could potentially be useful for us to know.

"We have no frame of reference to define our trajectory. The only thing we can see is a single K class star. Or at least it looks like a star. We cannot triangulate our vector without two other reference points."

(There's the planet you just found and the one you spotted earlier transitioning the star)

((We can't tell how far they are from the star at our angle if we spotted them transitioning. That's one of the main issues with identifying potentially habitable planets. It's easy to spot transitions but you can't define location relative to a star.))

(True. Though you do have time to keep looking for more. And a way to estimate distance to the nearer planet if you wanted to brute-force your way there, rather than ride an orbit.)

(Nah, it's just finals season and I've been extremely busy. Plus, not sure if there's consensus among the crew as to what to do)

(It's the weekend before the dead week, the worst of finals is behind me, so I have time to update my games! What course of action does the crew choose? Or is there not enough to go on?)
