Request the use of 2 engineer materials specialists, 3 normal engineers and the help of Ivan the ballistic engineer to create a new HMG for infantry and vehicular use.

Request that efforts be made to recruit more of the above engineers to allow me to work faster.

I can work on some accurate light artillery pieces to be tugged into place if enemies attempt to land and heavier fixed coastal batteries once we have more people.

Due to the islands small size(for a nation) we need to abstain from all scorched earth/large collateral damage. So, we need percussion precision, snipers to pick off the few infantry that get on the beach.

I would say our long term goal should be making this place a fortress with bunkers all on the beaches. The more we prevent the enemy from even getting on the island the less we need to focus on dealing with them here.

Edit, I don't know what I was thinking with that word's spelling.

The Catapults could massacre beach assaults for half the price of a Tank!

And would be so close to the beach that ship based cannons would smash them to kindling with impunity.

I can invent us some good long range artillery for artists ship, I'm gonna do 20mm for AA and the new HMG used from a bunker line will shred infantry if used in the right places.

My current project list is effectively to allow us to be a fortress.

Tanks are more mobile than catapults, though. This makes them easier to deploy in case of an assault; this way we need fewer tanks than we would catapults. And since tanks fire straight instead of in arcs, they will be less suspect to accuracy loss from the high wind conditions that plague coastal areas such as this one. Catapults also leave their payload and crew out in the open, rendering them vulnerable to percussion.

I should also mention that cavalry is fast moving and spread out; catapults will cause minimal casualties against them.

Doesn't atillery require aerial support to be aimed properly?

Only if you can't see the target and I'm making line of sight pieces first howitzers come later. How do you think they used cannons in Napoleons time lol?
Talked to pigeons?

Couple of ranging shots then bring up the batteries and hammer the enemy ships, coastal batteries well concealed for the big ships and lighter mobile pieces for landing craft.

Did they not use it against stationary targets the size of castles?

And cavalry charges, infantry, other cannons. Ships. Same things we will. As long as we can see the target we can hit it and ships ain't exactly small targets.

Very well, I shall leave that to your expertise then.

I'll need whoever the artillery guy on our team was to help, I can build it but he knows how to use it.

With the size of these islands we won't need very many tanks as long as they're very mobile. I think it would be great to have an extremely mobile armored force than it would to have catapults everywhere.

So you're going to design the gunnery for the PT boats first? I suppose that means you will handle Mr. Trout's pitch?

Fun fact about Napoleonic artillery: It was generally done within visual range, and normally used spotters directing fire.
Occasionally observation balloons where used.

Ship battles where within visible range up until the later bit of WW2, when radar fire control systems where developed.
And you guys might want to ASK the military what THEY want developed.

....lol, here we are going around in circles with all these grand designs, and we never even asked a single officer what THEY'D like to see. Someone do that please?

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.
