Do you guys think I should go Ranger or Necromancer in GW2? Both tend to be my favorite, but I only want to stick with one for now (at least till one is max level so I can actually see later stuff.)

I know Ranger at release was really bad, and GW1 it was always rather bad too all the way up to when it stopped being updated lol. But I love this class, because I can play a wilderness kinda character. In Skyrim that is one of my favorite things is modding in hunting (I know GW2 obviously doesn't really have that) and live my life as a hunter kinda character with some conjuration stuff thrown in. And in the next expansion, they can become a Druid.

Necromancer is a lot of fun too. Though I mostly like it in games like Torchlight 2 or Diablo. Modded necromancy in Skyrim is fun too. My main problem with it in MMOs is usually very limited number of pets unlike torchlight 2 and diablo. AND everyone and there dead grandmother (get it heh heh) plays as a Necromancer. Its REALLY popular, which is a huge downside for me. With that said, its always a VERY fun class I never get bored of even if MMOs limit the number of pets. Probably one of the few classes I can stick with all the way to endgame and play as. I love playing necromancer classes, sadly everyone else does too lol.

The only MMO I personally like is the aforementioned Star Trek Online.
This is partially because I'm a trekkie, but mostly because its the only MMO I've played that actually lets you play it like a single player game.

I....what? Every single modern MMO (aka WoW and anything that came out after it) has been very, very heavily focused on solo'ing. There's often some group required things, but you can completely ignore them if you want.

I have not played GW2 in about a year so I'm sure a lot has changed, but when I did play... necromancer was decent for PvP and the worst class for PvE. You get a lot of pets if you want, but they all die really fast and do almost no damage so you only use them as a gimmick/joke. Also, they aren't really undead exactly, it's more like flesh golems (if that matters to you).

Ranger was bad at PvP and only slightly better then necromancer for PvE. I never played one so I can't comment specifically, but they were pretty rare and nobody really seemed happy with them.

Again... that's all from like a year ago, things might have changed.

Guild Halls were literally the thing I've been holding out for, for quite awhile. I burned out on grinding for a legendary, but I'd be willing to pick up the guild banner again and unite the clans once more for that.

Also, if anyone picked up the game on sale and is looking for a guild, GW2 vets or newbs, you can roll with me on Darkhaven in [CSW] or Cthulhu Saves the World. We had alot of the guild stuff built but we bled members in the last days I was playing, and I'd be down for group events/dungeon runs/sPvP/WvW or whatever again.

Pemmican is pretty incredibly durable. Corn and rice also lust forever without refrigeration.
Ah yes, the insatiable lust of corn and rice, clearly two of the most erotic foods.

I'd say work on both for now, when you're bored with one hop on the other.  Right now with todays announcement we know that Rangers will be getting a druid line and staves as weapons, and necros will be getting two-handed swords for some kinda something for their speciality, so may wanna keep that in mind.  That said, Rangers are a bit better now for PvE than what the previous poster stated...Necros on the other hand are still on the bottom rung, but that's only if you want to meta-game.
