Where are you getting .05? 5 percent of one hundred is 5.
Yes? Thus, the number you have to roll over is 5.

The nature of lost control will be related to the test that was being attempted when control was lost - though the results will often be violent.

As for the willpower system, I'll admit I share Cript's concerns, but I haven't got a better alternative at the moment. Balancing will most likely occur in play - changing your sheet shouldn't be necessary, and if it becomes so I will allow it.

I am considering ruling that players can opt for a 'safe' test, where their willpower cap is the highest possible result.
I am also considering making willpower attunement increase automatically with each mission.

Attunement increases will mostly be ~1%, though larger increases will be available, likely from completing missions.

Anyway, hopefully this should start tomorrow. I think I'll have to sum up all the rule changes there :P

To throw out a couple of ideas:

I am considering ruling that players can opt for a 'safe' test, where their willpower cap is the highest possible result.

If you're willing to lose the ooc randomness (as in even us players don't know when we will lose control) perhaps a system where you can get bonuses to your roll, but then lose control/have to make a willpower test?

Perhaps disconnect willpower tests from other stat tests, and instead make is so that under certain conditions (maybe make the players make a flaw that describes these conditions?) we have to roll willpower tests? Maybe also have various generic conditions (like getting hurt or killing people or something.)

Another option (that I personally find interesting) is to simply 'wing it' so to say. Ether assigning willpower tests when you think it's thematically appropriate, or finding a rate of losing control that you want and then moving the mechanics until they specifically fit that. Bottom up design basically.

This seems like the best idea to me.

I like the bonuses resulting in willpower checks idea. Push too hard and it stresses you too far.

Makes sense IC.

Spoiler: Rule stuff (click to show/hide)

Basic training

As the last of your fellows - at least you assume that’s what they are - are shepherded into the room, your attention is drawn to the official. He looks vaguely familiar, as if you saw him on tv once, but you can’t quite place where from. He glances around the room, nodding at a pair of soldiers to close the doors, then he starts to speak.
“Welcome to the PDP, group three. You are aware of why you are here, so I will cut straight to the start. In the rear of this compound is a training ground. It is covered by cameras, and overlooked by guards. Speakers will allow me to communicate with you. You all have your reasons to remain with us, so trying to escape would be…. wasteful.
Once you are outside, you will see a number of crates containing equipment. Try not to argue over it, there is plenty to go around. Today you will be getting used to its operation. Tomorrow, this practice might save your life.”
He motions to the same pair of guards, who have moved to the other end of the room. They open another pair of doors, which lead out into a walled off area.
   “Are there any questions?”

"Not any that you'd like to hear."
Kyle starts walking towards the doors that are open.

Jane stood alone. She could smell the others.

She didn't like the scents to much. Made her think of wolves. Even worse, foxes. She hated foxes.

Without a word, she stalked past the guards, glaring at them as she passed.

"Heh heh. No Sirre" David said as he stood up flashing officer his best smile, as his eyes calculatingly looked him up and down. "Not yet."

Without any more commentary he made his way out to the training yard.

"Hmm, yeah sure." Darrek offhandedly remarks as he fiddles with a piece of paper that he got yesterday. and numbly walks to follow the rest of them.

Aeon stayed near the back of the group, paying less attention to her team and more to the arguing voices inside her head.

Some were saying she should charge the guards, kill them, and try to jump the wall, but more said that was a stupid idea. Half of the voices were warning her the pale, dark haired girl with the electric eyes was very dangerous-opinions varied on how to deal with her...in fact, most of her fragmented mind told her the entire room was filled with dangerous people. She had to be careful...her powers made her hard to injure, but she didn't have as much flash as the other monsters-cruel ones. Depressingly, a quarter of her mind (the more noble side) offered the idea that she should eventually kill everyone and spare the world the pain they would no doubt inflict upon it by existing. A slightly larger majority was all for picking friends and mates among them and becoming one of the pack, drinking blood, and baying at the moon. She tried to block them all out.

Concentration comes with effort.

After a moment she joins rest going outside, thinking of nothing but the pills waiting in her locker after this over.

Jane's neck prickled. Was someone...?

She glanced around, but she was out the doors by then, and the other prey had begun to move as well.

Chiroko ignored the guards as they walked out. The guards were irrelevant. Annoying. Useless, even.

After entering the training yard, they stayed in a corner off to the side, observing everyone else.

Rubbing the stubble on his chin to a thoughtfull side-way glance, Bjarke did have a question on mind. A very important one, even - Did said equipment include the ordinance which he had asked for? Anxious to find out, he saluted the official.

"Can I hope to find anything that I previously requested?"

Seeing that most of The Others had no questions, and some even started to walk away with brisk paces, he took a few peeks in their general direction. The idea of them possibly nabbing what he would like to consider his equipment, was slightly worrisome.
