I would totally play that. I don't even care that there's already a Pokémon strategy game, I'd still play that.

Open Tyrian and FreeCiv.

A space-based 4X where you slowly conquer the galaxy on a bunch of randomly generated shoot-em-up levels, with the technology available, weapon upgrade levels and ships faced by you determined by how well you do in the turn-based strategic portion of the game, upon regions or planets you've conquered and the resources available to them. Diplomacy is approximately at Civ II levels of "doesn't count, I have laser cannons" complexity. Space dragons do exist. You shoot them sometimes.

With coins, gems and fruit as basic units of currency. Possibly including a strategic defense/battle mini-game based on Scorched Earth, for longer ranged encounters or giggles.

That actually could work, you know.....

Using the power of only your fists and whatever you pick up, you beat your way through hordes of massive monsters, collecting their skins and teeth and making it into weapons and army. The reason is to take down a massive crime boss who's avoided capture except through you joining his ranks as a new poacher.

Participate as part of a team of five flagships to take down the enemy fleet. Every 30 seconds fighters spawn out of your space stations and hurtle down the starlanes towards the enemy weapons platforms. Upgrade your ships by gaining crew abilities and buying extra components. Finally, after much battle and pushing, the enemy homeworld will capitulate and you will be victorious.

Space Empires 5 and Dota 2. :)

Edit : Engines first mid lane? NOOB

Hyperion class invis is so bullshit. Malfador pls nerf

After a particularly bad jump, the Battle Barge has crash landed on a xenos infested world. There are few survivors and we've lost contact with our battle brothers. Most of our power armor is damaged and we've had to forge replacements out of duct tape and paper. Dark Days Ahead for the Chapter.

Protip: If you spawn near a Necron tomb, spare yourself the agony and just start a new game.

Titan fall and Elder scrolls 4: oblivion
Giant battle mechs wielding giant enchanted swords fighting large hordes of scamps, demons, and giant troll monsters with many explosions from rocket pods.
