Xcom (original) and Stick Rangers.

A top down isometric mobile game where you continuously have to drag your Xcom agents into cover while they blindly run head-long at the opposing alien forces, firing whatever weaponry you gave to them. Occasionally you could "crouch" a soldier, so they'd stay there and not be stormtrooper levels of incompetent at aiming.

Not only would you have to drag them away from danger behind buildings/bushes/anything, but also tell them which direction to face/run, so they could explore the 3d-isometric environment properly.

Plenty of equipment slots, because rocket launchers, grenades and other stuff are fun. Compo slots on your weapons/armour to add some snazzy custom effects too. Alien tech gubbins :)

You start with 4 soldiers, SR style, but eventually you'll be grouping/saving/pointing/directing/managing entire Skyrangers and Avengers full of retards, against the alien bases and downed ufos.

Kind of the reverse of a tower defense game, where you're managing the badly programmed AI attackers. Sort of like Syndicate/Cannon Fodder/Xcom/Stick Rangers combined, with some minimalistic base building/gear/cooldown management. Just enough nostalgia and lore to make it hilarious.

It sort of has merit as a game concept really.

Overwatch of a Dead Earth.

Spend 40 hours designing each and every piece of your gear in exacting physical detail, then play a 40 second game of which 36 consisted of you running at the other team, and four are actual, hectic combat.

Touhou of Rogue. (Touhou and Streets of Rogue).

Different weapons (charms/talismans instead of things like grenades) and classes. Too many to write down right now.

An entire second page of the class screen, this one devoted to youkai OR have the youkai replace certain classes. For instance, a darkness youkai could replace the assassin (becoming unseeable and attacking people from behind).

OR:

A shoot-'em-up where the player fights against the various classes and potential enemies. Not sure how that would work.

MekHQ/MegaMek against the Bot and Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines

You are a vampire, a flegdling. (Also a Malkavian.) Your mercenary company gets send on errands for every other vampire house out there that is slightly older than you. They are mostly on the more urbanized planets of the Inner Sphere, because the rural planets are werewolf territory.
And because they are all more powerful then you, you can't do anything about it. Yet!
You are being sent do different planets to carry our your missions of tactical mech battles, though sometimes you can talk your way out of them. Do you tell your crew you are a vampire now? Do you infect them, or make them ghouls? Or do you keep telling them you developed a bad case of sun-phobia after that last drunken night out. Which is also why you don't touch alcohol anymore. How will you keep up the Masquerade when your drop ship is in full burn towards the third planet, with the sun in plain sight for days on end?

And while you do that and ponder this, something is stirring in the east. Old rumors of clanless warriors bent on destroying the Inner Sphere abound. Strange sightings in the Deep Periphery. Could these really be the end times? Gehenna? Or are the upper echelons just fearmongering to keep you and countless others in line?

Use your guitar to explore the world around you. Colorful blocks fall from the sky, grant you building materials, and allow you to upgrade your equipment and max health. Use your axe to cut down trees, shred enemies, and tear through mountains as you seek what ruined your civilization.

Crusaders of a Dead King 1.5:

First, design a sword and full suit of armor by selecting from dozens of exquisitely defined, accurately simulated metal alloys, design patterns, armor thicknesses, and layers. Then put your knight on an exquisitely-detailed physical simulation of a horse, including everything from muscle mass to hair density. Then, simulate the 100% realistic battles of the past by running that knight directly into an identical knight at 10km/s because the combat AI is crap.

Dwarf Fortress + XCOM 2 Long War 2.

Long War 2 modded with Dwarf Fortress Theme.

You are in a Flying Fortress and have
- start with 6 Dwarves Peasandts (Personnel) in a Hovel (Haven), collecting:
+ lores and rumors (Intel) around the region,
+ or focusing on recruiting uncivilized dwarf peasants (Recruit) to join for your cause,
+ or mine for Treasures (Supplies)

There's a Human Town (Black Market) where you trade treasures for Gadgets (PCS), Gimmicks (Weapon Mods), Soldiers (Recruits), Doctors (Scientist), Mechanics (Engineers), or other types of ores (Alloys, Eleriums, etc).

The Earth has been invaded by Hell, and it is up to you to free the Dwarven Nation from the grip of hell's denizens.

There a Kobold Caves (ADVENT Sites), Goblin Dark Pit (ADVENT City), and Necromancer Towers (ADVENT Tower Network) that you raid for more Lores, rescuing Recruits, and gaining more Treasures.

You also have Recruits and train them to Soldiers in specialized classes:
Axe (Assault), melee
Sword (Shinobi), melee
Spear (Ranger), melee
Warhammer (Gunner), melee
Mace (Specialist), melee
Crossbow (Sharpshooter), range
Ballista (Technical), range
Catapult (Grenadier), range

You can also train Soldiers to be Nobles (Officer)

There are various enemies:
Kobolds (Troopers)
Goblins (Advent)
Humans (Sectoid)
Elves (Vipers)
Trolls (Archon)
Ogres (Mutons)
Minotaurs (Berzerker)
Forgotten Beasts (Elders)
and many others

OK, I'll stop now.

Deus Row 2 (Deus Ex + Saints Row 2)

Stealth, shooting, and smoking blunts to restore health.

The Illuminati and Majestic 12 make their appearance in Stilwater, forming some of the most dangerous gangs in the game.

Blunt implements and fists are no longer lethal, not that this makes a huge difference outside of missions.

A hand crossbow is now a new weapon, allowing you to turn enemies into pincushions or knock them out and carry them for your nefarious purposes.

Respect is now awarded for simply reaching hard-to-reach places...

The storyline of Deus Ex is perverted significantly.

Choose from over 700 distinct and unique characters in this wild, colorful team based FPS where the time on the server is dictated by the location of the actual sun. This version of the game has its time set to 12 hours ahead of what it actually is, making it night in the game when it's actually day, giving a bonus to snipers, supports, and stealth classes.

Pokewatch Moon. We're all mons now.
