 Manage a group of survivors in apocalyptic New England, leading companions to fight and loot the ruins. Fight back against the Triffid, the fungus and the slime that seek to colonize this land. Install experimental augmentations or mutate your body, build vehicles and fortifications. Farm, scavenge or mine the materials you need to build, forge, or otherwise craft the tools you need to survive. Try to find a way to escape via space, the  realms the invaders came from, or by working your way through the hordes of enemies. Or else simply work to survive this this world. Fight for or against the various groups who have survived thusfar. In the end, however, you will die. But your story will have been worth telling...

I...don't really know. Maybe a giant melee mecha game in space where the players build the mechs themselves which are then governed by a procedural movement/combat system.

X3 Terran Conflict + Space Engineers

A huge space sim where you can run fleets and own space industries, but you can design your own stations and ships.

If I hadn't tried Space Engineers for a few minutes this would have been X3 Terran Conflict + Freelancer, a perfect storm of (single player) awesome if there ever was one!

You pick a world, make a base, create squad, equip them and defend your base because there's an NPC on a timer that keeps digging deeper.

Openspades and league of legends.

You treck across a massive voxel arena as a special operative unit, leading squads along various fronts to meet the enemy in attempt to overrun their turret-citadel positions and eventually take our theie main objective. Given the nature of the fight, you'll be forced to form trench lines with your in-flowing forces while desperately repairing cover that is blown away in seconds,rallying your forces under fire and taking down any spontaneous or even tactically planned single/mass grenade kamikaze charges, qll while making sure you dont get picked off by some rifleman or some shotgun wielding rambo who snuck past your backline.
You get money for kills and can but items to, get stronger, such as not dying the instant you are shot in the head.
There's also massive spans of forest between each front of battle, difficult to navigate through and easy to ambush from.
The player characters also get cool abilities, too.

I'm kind of undescisive about MoW at the moment, though. I imagine the multiplayer for AsSquad 1 is dead as the dodo by now, but I don't really want to buy AsSquad 2. Feels more like an expansion pack than a stand-alone. I hope they announce another Men of War soon, so I can buy that when it comes out, get back in the multiplayer while I can also feel that I've got my money's worth.

A sandbox game where you could be anything from a hobbit thief, a maia wizard... to an orcish Sith, travelling middle earth taking out the main players after sneaking through their domiciles and using set piece level of fighting skills and continent destroying magic to take them out.
