This is probably a terrible idea, but in.  Forewarning; my post rate will not be up to usual standards.
My classes start on Tuesday so yeah, I should be able to do one post a day.

So, while we're waiting for pm's to be written and sent and the game to start, does someone with more experience care to explain what affect pm's can have on games, particularly setups like Paranormal?

I haven't personally gotten much use out of them, but I believe they have the greatest effect in two cases;

1) Third parties.  They can try to con other players into working at least generally toward their own win conditions, and if the Dopps (and to a lesser extent, Exty) figure out who a Survivor is, they can threaten them with death to work with them.

2) Town blocks.  If an agent is damn sure they've found some townies, they can start talking to them in private to work toward confirming more people, making a townie power base.

There's also use in players claiming to each other to cover fake claims, and the like.

Last game, I got contacted via PM by another player who was a Detective and had similar reads to tell me of a Night inspect he had. Once I discovered I wasn't the only guard in the game, I coordinated night actions via PM with Tiruin, who was the other guard, so that we wouldn't accidentally protect the same person and provide some accountability.

They can, but since the player loses their role it wouldn't do anything for the mind stealer.
