We should probably choose our Favored Weapons, then. I feel like a melta weapon would make sense, somehow. Or maybe a lascannon. Something more precise and focused than a stubber or bolter (though that doesn't stop individual gunners from taking stubbers), anyway.

Can you imagine what that would be like? A army of troops, the like of which hadent been seen for longer than some stars lifespans, appearing in a world of (to put it kindly) bloody-minded ass-backwardness.

I don't know that the Guard was around then, though. Wasn't it all Space Marine Legions?

I think there was something like a mix of the guard and the navy, with the space marines dancing about at the edges.

If I recall correctly, one of the reasons stated for why the imperial legion doesn't have aircraft is because when the shit flew there where units who seceded that had everything, and when it settled slightly they tired to keep that from happening again by splitting everything up.

Spoiler: Diego Anna Garruco de Nevillio (click to show/hide)

Appearance: average built, 6 feet tall, short haircut under his helmet – nothing makes him different from your average guardsman rather than whiskers on his cheeks.

Backstory (Demeanor – Numb): Diego was a cheerful and optimistic young man back in his days of being one of Conquistadors. Just after a success in a major military campaign, he was on his way home to collect his reward and start a peaceful life of a respected retired soldier in mainland of Barrablanca. He planned to propose to a girl he liked, coming back in shining armor, so his parents would finally be proud of him. However, upon his arrival, he was striken with many things: his parents died of old age several months ago, the girl he wanted to propose to has married a fellow Diego has known who deserted from going to this very overseas campaign he returned from. And above all, he was drafted into Imperial Guard (which he was quite unaware of before) straight upon arrival.
Diego had nothing to do now but to learn anew the most basic things he was taught the whole life – it was hard, but he did well, successfully applying his skills to whole new reality. However, in time he found himself incapable of feeling as deep as he did at home, at Barrablanca – it wasn’t that bad, if all the things commissars and ecclesiarchs told him were true.

Description: Maria Isabella de Nevillio is Diego's elder sister, who was the one receiving the grim news at home while her brother was far away. When their parents died, she was assaulted by some people in the streets of her hometown who knew there was nobody left to protect her. She ran away, but they chased her to her home and broke in. She could hardly fight back, but luckily she managed to strike one of the offenders with a chandelier - he fell dead, and the other offender fled. Realistaion of being a murderer caused a major mental trauma. She became obsessed with self defense and by the time her brother returned she successfully passed the test of physical abilities to enroll herself in Imperial Guard. Luckily, she ended up alongside with her brother, who has also changed drastically in just a few weeks since his arrival.

Some things I noticed:
-Weapon Training (Las) would cost you 300xp because the talent's Aptitudes are Finesse and General and you only have General (table 3-18: Talent Advances at the bottom of pg.103);
-Getting +15 for Toughness would cost 100xp for the first +5 (Simple) Advance, 250xp for the Intermediate Advance and 500xp for the Trained Advance, and you have to buy them in order (table 3-14: Characteristic Advances at the top of pg.102);
-More of friendly advice than anything, but you can have the Favored Heavy Weapon of the regiment be something else and still start with a heavy stubber due to the Specialty's starting equipment. Heavies are expected to crack armor or at least deal with the stronger enemies, so the regiment's Favored Heavy can be an Autocannon or MP Lascannon or Multilaser or Heavy Bolter even if you start with a heavy stubber and try to Requisition the Favored heavy weapon later (with a bonus) to have both.

Yeah, Autocannon is a good one. I'll take that instead to start with. Given it is marked Very Rare and we can have it like POOF here it is. And will fix the other things.

EDIT: I figured out my carrying weight, which is 45 kg. And the autocannon weights 40kg. But I'm not supposed to carry it around alone, I have a comrade to help me with that, am I right? I'll go figure this out in rulebook.
