"I don't know. The type of magic depends on the Witch, though we've most commonly seen dark magic. The number of homunculi depend on the strength of the Witch. Enough to keep the lumberjacks out of the woods, at any rate."

Arian was in no hurry to rush onto the enemy's weapons, but at least the adrenaline would help him best his dread, if only by replacing it with mortal terror.

Henry looked at Devin. The mage didn't appear too interested in helping him out here. He shrugged and turned back to Arian and the others.

"Orders are orders. We can't stand around forever. I'll vanguard."

With that, the soldier lit his torch, raised his spear, and entered the cave. After making sure everyone was following him, of course. He wasn't about to walk in on his lonesome.

Finally, the party sums up it's courage, and begins treading towards the cave. They see movement from inside - a mismatched assortment of vaguely humanoid things  begin to approach them. The monsters are made of mud and clay, sculpted in rough, uneven limbs and marred with cracks and lumps. The weapons they hold gleam dully, as if the metal they're made of isn't quite real. Nonetheless, such weapons could be deadly...
