You command your shades to possess the guest as he comes out of his carriage. The portly man struggles getting down the carriage, needing help from two of his bodyguards. The shade easily enters his body through the nose and mouth. The portly man begins coughing violently, but the shade is in control. Your shade pulls out a napkin and begins wiping the blood from his nose.
"Are you alright, milord?"
"Yes, yes. I'm, uh, fine."
He heads for the manor with the guards. They are greeted by a valet and a butler, who happily escort them into the manor. They are told to wait in the study: a vast library with three large chairs and a intricately carved coffee table. The shade is served tea with wild honey and waits for Lady Mary Anne to appear. She appears soon: an old woman, but proud and tall. She wears an elegant red gown and covers herself in fine jewelry, but the one that catches your eye is the large, jade crystal on her neck.
"Well, how nice of you to visit, Mortimer," she says, taking a seat and sipping her teacup.
"How nice of you to let me in, Mary," the shade says casually. Shades can steal some of the memories of their host. Mortimer here is an old friend of Lady Mary Anne, and the shade has learned his speaking patterns and habits. Some memories are lost, however.
The two talk the whole afternoon. Quite frankly, you're quite bored. But the shade seems to be enjoying himself, given that he's spent a century in hell and this is one afternoon with nobility. The other shades have been snooping around the manor, searching every room. One room is locked magically, however. Probably the room of the lady's personal magician.
"Oh, Mary, you look marvelous. Might I have a look at the Jade Jewel around your neck? Is it new?"
She arches an eyebrow and laughs. "Oh, Mortimer, you and your greedy eyes. You can have it if you want." She merrily unclasps the jewel necklace and hands it to the shade. This is easier than you thought it would be. As the shade examines it, two guards enter the room and slash the neck of the shade. The shade is exorcised from the body painfully as Mortimer drops his teacup.
"Don't think I can't see you, shade. I'm not just an old lady who eats biscuits and sips tea. 'Is it new'? Mortimer gave me this necklace. You possessed my best friend, and for that I'll find whoever sent you. Your after my Gemstone aren't you? The Golden Sun Company has put out an offer to any thief to take it. You're not the first."
The shade is starting to panic. "What now? Are you going to send me back to hell?"
"Hell is too good for thieves like you." She pulls out a strange icon and points it at the shade. "Goodbye, monster." The shade is engulfed in something and disappears. You can't detect where it went. It's as if it stopped existing.
"Search the manor. There might be more of them." Her guards nod and run out of the study. Your shades are scattered throughout the manor. Hopefully her guards can't see the shades like she can.
