Ahh... I wanted vintage dwarves like the original human portraits. :(
Well, keep up the good work, I have never seen a fortress grandson on this version!

With a little genealogical research it turns out that two more of our fortress inhabitants are related.

Sure. Although I would prefer to get rid of the faint twiddly bits of the border - on my monitor they just look like my screen is dusty. (OK, my screen _is_ dusty, but still).

In other news our slightly improved Forgotten Beast trap has claimed a victim - in rather less time than before.

[EDIT] There are now two repeating spike traps before the first door. So if the forgotten beast stops two tiles away, or one tile away, we can catch it either way.

[EDIT]x2 We bid farewell to Rigoth Eturduthnur(M) who is old enough to find his way to another fortress. We deem that he is unlikely to settle down here.

[EDIT]x3 We were doing some landscaping with lava.

And then a forgotten beast turned up. Luckily we were able to remove the pump and replace it with a wall. It does not seem to be very good at tracking, which is good overall. This does mean that that project is on indefinite hold, though. There are now a total of four forgotten beasts stuck in various locations around the caverns and mines.

Posting to watch this.  I started an origin-year fort with the intent of breeding up but had little success, so I'm very interested in seeing how this goes. ^_^

In the Age of Myth 1014;
Congratulations to Melbil Shorastasrer on the birth of a beautiful baby girl!

With some difficulty the Forgotten Beast that halted the obsidian floor project has been disposed of. (OK, I had to save scum once.  :-[ ). A beast that doesn't track well is actually more awkward in some ways because it is less predictable.

The lake level is slowly being secured.

But we are retaining some 'edge water' for later use.

Whoops. A new forgotten beast has arrived before the lake level is safely locked off.

Unfortunately, Besmar Misber (see above) is rather close ... do you think he stands a chance? Vote now!

In the Age of Myth 1014;

Onul Zuntirkilrud (niece of Melbil Shorastasrer) has been killed by exposure to the deadly dust of the Forgotten Beast. Besmar Misber, on the other hand, got away by the skin of his teeth.

Congratulations to Bembul Ustuthnish on the birth of a bouncing baby boy!
