Haha, yeah. However, as the 10 year thing and the no marrying sisters thing both seem to be holding up, most of them probably wont be able to get married.

[EDIT] The oldest fortress born, Deler Cilobbungek(M), should only be able to marry either Iden Arrosonul(F) or Dodok Rigothbetan(F). It will be another two and a half game years before we can see how that might go.

Good luck.

He 'values family greatly' so it's hopeful he'll be looking to commit. (Lol, I feel like I'm running a mail-order bride service).

10 children max per couple? My (only remaining) married pair of dwarves seem to have decided 10 children is enough. Has anybody seen an eleventh child in world gen or in fortress mode?

All established marriage science is pre-0.40, so there may have been changes in the meantime. I am not aware of any kind of child number/parent age limit in the older versions. The record i've seen was 28 children from one couple.

It sometimes looked like parents took a time-out from babymaking if they had a large number of sprogs and would only start again once a few kids had grown up (or presumably died/exiled, but i don't build my forts to kill dwarfs). Might have been an indirect effect - many children -> much work and few people to do it -> little free time to make more babies.

Three years after her next youngest child. So, no limit on numbers of babies born. Possibly because I've been keeping the dwarves busy on a stupid dwarf project.

Er, oops?

In the Age of Myths 1026 a pump operator failed to notice the big gap in the wall next to the screw pump installed on top of the volcano. One dead, lots of ash.

To be honest I've sort of lost interest in this project - so I'm going to take this accident as a hint and stop here. BUT if anyone wants to take over the fortress and continue to the next generation I'm putting it up on DFFD.

The genealogy software I used was the free version of MyHeritage Family Tree Builder. It does a pretty decent job. I have included the full family tree data inside the save file (see 'Dorf1.zip' inside 'Firesale.zip'). The 'dorfed' family tree image was edited with the free Paint.NET software.

The save file is a 1x1 embark using Phoebus' Graphics Set

In case anybody is interested my 'stupid dwarf trick' was going to be levelling the surface and having outside rooms. Buildings, like cage traps and bedrooms, can be built underground, then when you mine away the layers above them they still exist even though they have no roof above them and/or are built too close to the edge of the map. It's one exploit to avoid cave adaption sickness.  While the layer is underground you can exploit the 'fungus turns rock into soil' bug to convert any solid rock surfaces into soil. That gives you the maximum area for tree growing above ground, plant gathering and such.

Awww, I wanted to see how it would end up...
I would like to take over and continue the project, but I can hardly play one hour a day, s my fortresses just drag along at one year every 2 or 3 days...

Yeah, the problem is it's a full time commitment. I would have the fortress running in the background all day from morning till night.

Once I've made a few silly mistakes it's hard to keep up the interest. Actually, what I might do is abandon the fortress then start a new one next to the old one. I should pick up familiar migrants. Starting over afresh would probably make things more interesting.

Fortress marriage, yes. Fortress-born marriage, no.

1. Kick out those who can't get married (used exile script. Magma would also work)
2. Give everybody Winter off each year so they can socialize freely.
3. Small dining room.
