I only read the headline but didn't Paul Ryan just today refer to yet another Trump statement as like "racist and disgusting."

But he hasn't backed away from his endorsement.  So Trump is racist and disgusting... but Ryan will still tell people to vote for him.

It's funny, I spent some time on AltHist in the years leading up to 2016, and pretty much all of the future timelines agreed: Only Marco Rubio and Hilary Clinton can become President. Time will tell if they were all right, or so, so very wrong.

It's possible we are already in a black swan event.

Suppose there are 100 timelines.  In 90 of them, Rubio is republican nominee.  In 9 of them someone not Trump or Rubio is nominee.  We are in that last one, the crazy 1%.  It's unlikely that an individual 1% event happens.  But sooner or later some 1% event happens.

That's the problem with trying to write fictional history.  It's hard to plausibly portray that history is full of black swan events or even identify the black swan events in our own history.

I don't think it's mathematically possible with the delegates, no. Someone will have to check that, though.
Is it possible that something FINALLY comes out of Benghazi that burns Clinton? Maybe something with the emails? Theoretically, yes. But honestly, even if there WAS something that could be used there, it's probably been spoiled by all the hearings about things that didn't actually amount to anything, though... Maybe. Maybe. I'd say it's unlikely, but unlikely things have happened in the past and can happen again in the future.

He might stay in it to try to influence the party platform, though. Or because he's gotten the idea that he can actually win this when I'm 90% sure he was originally in it to change policy and conversation (something he's already done at least somewhat, but can he do it more?)

Listened to Hillary's victory speech n the way home this evening. Pretty decent speech, other than the trying to make herself out to be the Kwisatz Haderach of women's rights.

Problem is, even with a good speech, she comes off about as authentic and spontaneous as a fucking Furby doll.


Still haven't made up my mind about November, either to vote for Clinton or abstain. North Carolina may not matter anyways, because I expect Trumpism will play well here, given how conservative the state appears to have slid the last ten years.

But I will say this -- if Clinton wins and then ditches most of the shit she's paying lip service to now in her speeches about economic equality and "making sure Wall Street never breaks Main Street again", I will vote and donate to the GOP in 2020, no matter who they run. I don't care if they run Fred Phelps' rotting corpse, I'll vote Corpse '20. This is the Democrats' last chance, as far as I'm concerned.
