Maybe, maybe not. Near as I can recall, some sorts of reward program type things do have legal protections, some don't. Got no clue if there's actually laws on the books about discriminatory confiscation patterns, but I'd be kinda' surprised if there were.* Th'barrista'd probably get hit with something if it went to court, but it might not have anything to do with the confiscations.

*Getting companies let the law have any jurisdiction over that sort of thing has historically been a complete goddamn nightmare, and continues to very much be so, so far as I'm aware. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a few lawyers out there that were actually killed for trying

If Bernie supporters splinter the democratic vote, the democratic system has failed because it's resulted in a poor representation of people's goals. If Bernie supporters fall in line behind Hillary, then the democratic system has failed because there is no incentive for her to actually represent the interests of her voters.

And can we consider that, quite apart from any manufactured crises, how damned oligarchic it is that two families will have controlled four out of the past five presidencies? That is not a healthy political system. That is, anywhere else, a democracy in terminal decline to despotism.

Of course it's democratic.  Clinton is only winning the primary because she won over swing voters.  To do that she had to go more progressive on some issues.

Yeah she could abandon all of that the second she's in office, but that's true of every single election.  Sanders had a progressive, positive influence on this election without winning.

Seriously though, one does wonder. You don't have to go too far back to find Presidents who've been succeeded by their cousins, or the case of FDR who was related to 11 other presidents by blood or marriage.

Because I think this race was less about more or less liberal and more about the party faithful vs. the anti-establishmentarians.

How are you defining "swing voters"?

In the Gallup poll, Sanders had a 35 percent favorable rating among independents who don’t lean toward either party. Clinton’s favorable rating with that group was 34 percent. Trump’s was a ridiculously low 16 percent.
