I'm still in favor of one-time amnesty to undo the VERY profitable situation the rich and corporations have invented, of using illegal foreign labor.
Even if it means excusing a lot of people who were eagerly complicit.
Even if it means making them *full citizens*.  What a reward and bad precedent for breaking our laws, but I think the benefits outweigh the consequences.

I see this a lot, but I'm not entirely convinced it won't just cause an increase in illegal entry. Illegal aliens are, almost by definition, not kept track of, so how do you know when you've amnestied them all? You don't, so you have to offer it to anyone who comes by over a certain time period. What I foresee happening is a massive wave of immigration for a long time after as people come to try to get free US citizenship, either hoping we'll do it again or to get in for the first one. If we do, why even have controls on immigration at all? And if we don't, what's different from the situation we had before, except that we've now set a precedent for rewarding people for breaking our laws?

I could swear that a huge number of US illegal immigrants are actually on expired visas rather than border hoppers.

To be fair if you want top-notch specialist treatment you'd go to the States. You just need to fork out a couple hundred thousand dollars or whatever.
So, yeh. #1 in terms of quality of treatment, but most people can't afford it.

Depending on the condition! Pretty sure there's some where the best are outside the US, though I forget which ones that's true for. Actually want to say gender reassignment was one of them, but again, see previous statement regarding headache. And maybe phage treatments if for some reason you need those specifically? Probably other stuff, too.

Does look like other news sources sorta' corroborate parts of it, though. Near as I can parse, it seems like sanders supporters got a bit pissed off a voice vote didn't go their way, fairly early in the convention, and were a bit rowdy. Apparently calls of things being fixed and whatnot, but near as I can tell digging through invariably shitty news reports sanders near matched clinton in delegate counts so that claim is... somewhat dubious? Somewhat moreso considering clinton actually did beat sanders on the popular vote, near as I can tell.*

Actually this looks like it might be a fairly decent breakdown as to what happened, if still seeming somewhat slanted. Tbh, without looking at the video and from what I've read in the last few minutes, it... sounds a lot like much of the so-called questionable behavior was due to sanders supporters basically being disruptive jackasses, and some of it perhaps overblown as an issue (i.e. the not waiting for nay votes near the end; the pretty obvious reason for that that most of these articles like to ignore would be an obvious majority without needing the rest to chime in).

In any case, if for some mad reason one of you out there actually want to watch a livestream of the entire event, you can find one here.

The delegate admittance thing seems kinda' interesting, though. Wouldn't mind hearing how that turns out. Also wouldn't be entirely surprised if much of the refusals were legitimate based on the stated reasons... a number of bernie supporters were, y'know, not democrats shortly previous.

*Though I will admit that's potentially dubious. It's something of a sumbitch to find actual vote count numbers for nevada instead of just the initial delegate split. Still, if it's as accurate as it seems on the face of it, it puts the actions reported on in a significantly different light, imo.

E: Honestly, what boggles my mind more than anything in those reports is that the convention used a voice vote with apparently multiple-thousands of people involved. About the only way you could make that more clumsy and imprecise is if it were votes cast by interpretive dance.

E2: That said, I now have the amazing image of the coordinator or whatever they are for a convention like that saying with a straight face, "Ayes do the Funky Chicken, Nays the Worm! All others must Time Warp or be escorted out of the building!"

I can just imagine the Democratic Convention in late July being chaotic. Though it looks like the Republican Convention is still going to have it's own drama.

Can't speak for its general respectability, but I can say that particular article (and the other one they've got) is kinda' shit, especially from a news reporting angle. Did a pretty poor job of actually explaining anything that was going on with even the most remote of clarity. Fairness where it's due, most other articles I checked (probably seven or eight before I hit the one I linked above and stopped looking, which at least tried to sorta' give a timeline of what was happening even if it was still fairly one-sided reporting) were also about as bad, but... yeah.

I skimmed the video. At the very least she did adjourn the convention on her own and run off the stage before any protest could be made. It is hard to tell exactly what's going on at any given moment, but it does have hints of the smell of corruption.

I'll freely admit Sanders basically has no chance now short of a bolt from the blue knocking Hillary out of the race, but the fact that so many areas of the DNC are trying to ignore and stifle dissent in the ranks is disgusting to me. That's not how you bring a divided party together. That's how you push people away to other choices.
