It's a shame that people have such a short memory concerning absurd bullshit that politicians say. Even I'd forgotten "binders full of women", or else I would have made a hilarious* "Binders full of small loans of a million dollars" meme.

I feel like Romney is just somehow... inherently unmemorable. During the 2012 election cycle my friend and I joked that by 2013 he would be "Mitt who?"
By some strange coincidence, the first reference to him I saw in years involved changing his surname, so my reaction was, in fact, "Mitt who?" Good times, good times.
But he wasn't particularly striking in general. Just.... there. Donald Trump is a different matter, and seems to be producing bizarre quotes much faster at least.

And we're in a 'period of change in rule' which happens every four or eight years, depending on whether the incumbent loses first term or hits term limits.
Which happens incessantly, depending on where and what scale you're looking at. There's usually some kind of change in rulership somewhere on the planet every bloody day. If not outright governmental/civil, than in business or military. There's not many points in human history that don't involve a period of change in rule. S'a bloody useless pointer.

Also promotion, retirement, and succession, among other things. I like to think it's not a terribly unorthodox position :P

"You just feel this rush of adrenaline in your body and you just want to conquer the world," Hind Essayegh, a Moroccan-American, said after the class. "It's really empowering."

I'm sure nobody will take this *cough Trump cough* out of context.

What if there was a contested convention and they nominated no one at all?

In the spirit of fair play, the Democrats would also decline to nominate anyone. With President Obama's second term elapsed and no successor, I'd imagine that Biden would become President.

Or an epic showdown between Jill Stein and Gary Johnson.

FAIR PLAY?
You DO realize HILLARY is one of the Democrats?

I'm pretty sure she would declare herself supreme immortal ruler of the planet if she ended up unopposed :P

To be fair, it worked out relatively well with the Emperor of Man.

If the democratics and republicans refused to nominate a candidate, that'd leave the Greens, the Libertarians, and the independents.

This might be very interesting indeed.

On an unrelated but not entirely dissimilar note, that sort of proposition is why I am throwing my vote to Gary Johnson this cycle. While I am not a Libertarian (capital or lowercase "L"), nor do I see eye to eye with Libertarians on several issues, I feel that the political system would benefit from some competition, especially with the addition of "intermediate" perspectives like theirs and those held by the Green party. With 5% of the vote, they will qualify for FEC funding, which as I understand it, could be quite a game changer.

I would love to live in a United States where a handful of parties had to vie and compromise to reach their essential goals, rather than alternate supreme control and undo or undermine the last period of legislation, and sport frivolous partisan bills without consequence.
