Would you vote for a candidate under the premise they are a sex god?
Literally?  Yes.

The line was only about 30 minutes, the officials worked fast.  Despite having to stay a bit later than expected, they kept telling us how happy they were to see such a big turnout (:

Well, one of them was more "Hmph, it's about damn time".  I'm glad I made it, even though I didn't fill out the entire ballot.  My last-minute cramming mostly came from the Independent Weekly, so I had no idea about the local stuff now that I'm not in Raleigh...

Except for County Commissioner, I got a leaflet and looked her up and liked her platform.

Literally or figuratively?
Any

Part of the republican debates was about Trump's wiener.
Doesn't count, unless you're that guy with doubledongs

President doubledongs would be hilarious for world diplomacy

Rubio has dropped out of the race.

I wonder what will happen with Rubios delegates after he dropped out as it's a not-insubstantial haul... Though I guess they can just go free-agent during the second round of voting at the convention.

Clinton seems to be doing really strongly across the board in Ohio.  Rich, poor, urban rural.  I guess their famous hatred of Michigan rears it's head.

Yeah, his drop out doesn't affect them.  They are still required to vote for him first round and are free to vote as they please after.  But it's looking less like a contested convention with the strong showing Trump is having.

But that still leaves the thermonuclear option right? I assume centered around Kaisch?

Kasich just got called for Ohio.

Looks like Clinton is going to sweep everywhere except maybe Illinois, but it's still early for that state.

I assume centered around Kasich?

I dont think it makes sense to try and rally around a candidate who just lost.  If Kasich had Cruz's numbers it would be plausible but the highest Kasich has ever gotten is the low double digits.  Maybe if his support continues to rise and he wins a few more states.  Of course this is very unprecedented so I'm going pretty freakin' far out on a limb here.

You're mixing up Rubio and Kasich there in that he just won Ohio and Rubio lost Florida, but yeah, Kasich's performance has been pretty bad all around.

I wonder if the reason why Clinton swept the board in Ohio is because we are only seeing the early voting results so far.

I mean just lost as in at some point three months from now, they would be drafting Kasich who just lost to Trump pretty overwhelmingly.

Plus Kasich positioned himself REALLY badly.  He made his views seem more left wing then they are.  Unless he tacks hard to the right wing for the general election, it's hard for him to be the candidate that republicans-in-exile would need as their figurehead.

I was more wondering at the likelihood of a brokered convention now, where the party elite rallies around the one guy left who isn't either despised as Cruz is or Trump who would make them look like idiots. It was all fun and games while Rubio was still in the race as an alternative to them both (I thought he'd go to the bitter end.) Now that he's would the Republicans go to the extreme of trying to back Kaisch and have a brokered convention? Or is it really down to the last two people the party elite would want?

I dunno, seems like it's a strategy to drift left during the Republican primary to distinguish yourself from guys like Trump and Cruz and Carson, then tack hard right during the general election to make up the difference. In previous elections that'd be backwards. But this hasn't been a typical election.

The party isn't going to overturn the results to hand the nomination to Kasich if he keeps pulling in 10% of the vote.  But if he can ride this victory and the Rubio dropout to some momentum he still has an outside shot.  There are a slew of New England states coming up in April and then the race finishes with the pacific coastal states.  If Kasich won all those states he would have a decent number of delegates and he would deny Trump or Cruz a clear mandate.  It would still be giving the race to the loser but it wouldn't be giving it to an overwhelming loser.  It would also require that Kasich have a massive surge that so far there hasn't been even a whisper of.

Not to mention that the math is impossible for Kasich anyway: http://www.politico.com/story/2016/03/john-kasich-nomination-path-220831 Most states from here on out are winner-take-all.

Probably the best he could hope for is to have a bit of influence at the convention and chip tiny amounts of delegates from Trump.

That's the point, if we have a brokered convention, math doesn't matter. Delegates are free to fly any which way. Even at Kasich if that's where the blessing from on high goes.

That's an IF we have a brokered convention, Cruz has to actually win those winner take all states.
