The Pope also responded to a question about advising whether or not to vote for and he said he wasn't going to get involved into that politics. Only problem is, the instant he butted into the politics, he got himself involved at a level.

I saw that slew of quinnipiac head-to-head polls earlier, and it's funny how Sanders is doing better against the Republicans than Clinton is. It may partially be that the republicans haven't gone after Sanders with the same intensity as they are Clinton.

That's the same argument that Clinton's people have been making pretty much since day one, and it doesn't really hold water. Sanders has been attacked, and he's already theoretically in a much less tenable position, being further to the left (and a dirty stinkin' pinko commie bastard &c. &c.). He's seeing better head-to-head numbers than Clinton despite being a socialist politician, openly, in the U.S., and despite not having the leftover wave of Bill-favor to ride on, even though he hasn't been doing anything on the campaign trail but making his policy positions clear and telling the public what he intends to do if elected.

But at the same time, maybe there's a *reason* that honest idealist politicians don't succeed in office?

I mean yes ideally I'd have a progressive president passing progressive legislation from the progressive congress, and the progressive supreme court would afford everyone proper rights.

But look at what Obama got done.  Not *nothing*, but a hard-won something...  And it was through his skill at deals, not the force of his convictions.  The only thing his convictions accomplished was to help the conservatives re-solidify.  Which was a mean feat considering how hard the libertarians/tea-party were splitting off.

I was going to vote for Sanders but I'm more and more convinced that Clinton can get more done.
