Bloomberg can be closer to wall street than Clinton is because of the financial media, but he could have a totally different relationship with wall street from what Clinton has. What that relationship looks like (outside of the financial magazine), I don't know.

Don't hose me bro!

Nah, we're fine. I'm not looking to have a fight, just saying..."I might take a look at this guy" does not invite the kind of response that it got.

@mainiac: There's a difference -- Bloomberg is a businessman. Clinton is a politician. I *expect* him to be pro-business. And he's not running on a hypocritical platform of opposing Wall Street (yet). Hillary is trying to steal the mantle of an anti-wealth crusader, which is ludicrous in light of her political history and ties.

Honestly? I'd respect Hillary a lot more if she just ran as a pro-business Democrat and dropped the "I'm like Bernie, but electable! WHY WON'T YOU LIKE ME CITIZEN??" shtick.
I'd still disagree with her, but at least I would have the respect to consider her.

Clinton had her wall street proposal out before Sanders was a viable challenger.

Honestly? I'd respect Hillary a lot more if she just ran as a pro-business Democrat

You might but I think a lot of democrats wouldn't.

Then maybe Hillary is in the wrong party. After all, isn't that what the primary process is about? Determining which candidate best represents the interests and priorities of the party?

The republicans would most likely attempt an excorcism ritual on hillary (or maybe themselves) if she tried to run as repiblican.

Anyway, look at that huge list of candidates that could be voted for in Politicos NH primary results (which only has those few towns that voted early atm). Makes one wish that we had a third party or at least give all those candidates an actual chance. Vermin Supreme is on there, heh.

She should be in the other party that favors wall street reform, abortion rights, college funding reform, equal pay legislation, paid leave legislation, detente with Iran, expanding access to healthcare under obamacare, pre-K education, gun restrictions, increasing union bargaining power, a higher minimum wage, preventing deportations, eliminating voter ID laws, gutting minimum sentencing laws and stopping prison privatization?

Well, democrats would go with such a platform but I have a hard time seeing the green party being wholeheartedly behind these ideas.  While she favors some action on green energy she doesn't even set a date on the end of fossil fuel use AFAIK.

Grandma, Grampa, and the great-uncle are arguing over the Thanksgiving table over who's going to give the grand-kids the most presents for Christmas. Meanwhile their grown children push their mashed potatoes around and give each-other knowing and severe looks. All the presents they proposed were promised eight years ago, four years ago, forty years ago. They've forgotten. The kids are too young to remember. But the adults know the house is underwater on the mortgage.  Nobody wants to say it, but the golden days are fading. But its time. Don't bother the grandkids with it, and let Mom and Dad have their last hurrah. We'll tell them quietly.

I consider the Green party to essentially be the same as the Democrats, just with a bigger focus on eco policies.

Must be nice to be an economist so you can tell people when they can't find a job (or can't seem to have anything left over at the end of the month when they do have a job) that they're just small-minded fools and that the economy is just fine.

Yeah, on a macro level the economy is rebounding and unemployment is down. And yet, the situation on the ground isn't that much better for most people. Adjusted for inflation (which has been relatively low the last several years), I make less money now than I did 6 years ago when I was a tech support monkey. And my bills are higher. With the unemployment rate decreasing, you would think that wages would be rising. And they are -- just not here, because more and more companies are replacing US labor with offshore labor. It's trickle-down economics, but the problem is that it's trickling across the ocean.

The temptation then, is to become a protectionist and a nationalist (and/or a socialist). I understand why a lot of people are pulling for Trump. He's hitting the right notes about tariffs and penalizing companies that offshore. Too bad that's wrapped up with all the other crazy xenophobic bits.

Why would I say that when there are so much more patronizing things I can say?

That's a fair cop. I'm not as good at that as you are.

But with the help of Hillary Clintons education initiatives you could become that arrogant.

Er ist der Geist, der stets verneint
Und das mit Recht! Denn alles, was geschrieben steht,
Ist wert, dass er es widerlegt:
Drum besser wär's, dass nichts hier stünde.
So ist denn alles, was ihr Sünde,
Zynisch, kurz: politisch nennt,
Sein eigentliches Element.
