There's too much gun violence in classrooms, so we need to take the obvious first step: Removing students from classrooms. I propose we teach them in shooting ranges and gun stores.

The safest place imaginable! Nothing can possibly go wrong with kids on a firing range. Right?

So yeah...apparently McCarthy was getting nixed by the hardcore rightists in the GOP, not the least over this comment to Fox News last week:
Quote
"Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable, right? But we put together a Benghazi special committee, a select committee, what are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping, why? Because she's untrustable. But no one would have known any of that had happened."

So yeah, they're mad at him for basically admitting that the Benghazi thing is about tanking Hillary's poll numbers. What good is a Speaker of the House if he can't lie through his teeth?

The notion was that they had enough votes to win the nomination within the GOP side of the House, but not enough to win in the full House (knowing that Democrats will likely vote a party line against any Republican nominee for Speaker.) Thus, John Boehner has announced he will remain in the Speakership until a suitable replacement is found.

This could actually be an incredibly shrewd political move by Boehner. Now he gets to run the House without threats of an ouster from the Tea Party, and he can rely on factional infighting to delay support coalescing around any one candidate for some time, or forcing the GOP to pick a caretaker moderate candidate (well, moderate in this case meaning not-frothing-at-the-mouth) that's inoffensive enough to garner sufficient support. If it turns out that he planned this all along, my respect for Mr. Orange will go up tremendously.

All the republican candidates I've seen have the same bad ideas about how to fix education.

The same bad ideas get really stale after a while.  I think that as citizens we should step up and start voicing some different bad ideas about how to fix education.  For instance, Finnish language classrooms educate their students very well so we should start teaching our classes in Finnish.  Not teaching our students to speak Finnish, but teaching math, history, composition, etc. in the Finnish language.
If you wanna go full Finn, you gotta teach 'em vodka olympics, happy stabbing, and knife tag as well! Look at those PISA scores! (from a few years ago)
Never mind the murder rates, it's all progressive Nordic Culture, for God's sake!

Finns start teaching vodka olympics in highschool?  Wow, most American college students struggle with that.

The 'The Shining' one meshes suspiciously well, and so does the dude with the messed up hands, but I'm not sure where that one is from.

Pan's Labyrinth.

Anyways...  Guess I better contribute something to the thread. Uh, how about those republicans? Argh, pretty ridiculous right? and, uh, those democrats: almost as ridiculous!! Aaaah! Wow, i've already stopped caring about the inevitable let down of what is surely the next presidency.

Umkay, apparently Paul Ryan is considering a speaker run. He'd better decide whether he wants to be speaker+senator or president because he can't have it both ways, or three ways even. If he becomes speaker, he'd better realize that he can't run for president any further.

Editwhiletyping: Wait, I'm getting him confused between Rand Paul, who IS running for pres. XD *wikis Paul Ryan to refresh*

Has anybody else made the mistake of mixing Paul Ryan with Rand Paul? lol.

Well, it is morning for me anyhow, so....

I looked at wiki and he has done A LOT of dealings with the budget. He's pretty much your typical establishment not-far-right Republican though.

Lolwut Carson, you're definetly talking out of your butt now. He's now said that the 'holocaust would have been greatly diminished if they had guns.' There is absolutely no way to prove that and the Nazis wouldn't have cared less if they had to shoot them dead on the spot.
